if you have found this page, you have found the incoherent ramblings of a madwoman, trying to help her guild with coops.

Okies so here's Myd's thoughts on coops...and roo production...

When starting, get your coops up in heat by closing during night, opening during day. The tricky point is when your coops get hot and it's now time to drop the temp carefully down.

The following table is a *general* rule of thumb...not a hard and fast rule.

DAY 6AM-6PM Temp Range NIGHT 6PM-6AM
Fully Open 0-60 Fully Shut
Mostly open 60-90 Mostly shut
Half open 90-105 Half open
Fully shut 105-120 Fully open

Now you'll notice I skipped one of the mostly's on the higher end. I don't *usually* use mostly's at all.

Each coop is different, some will heat faster than others, no matter what slat you have them on.

The MAIN GOAL for hatching roosters is to have the heat at the top end of warm at 6am. Sometimes babies won't show until 612am
