Tale 4 Beta has started and so has the Tale 4 Beta wiki. The main problem remaining with it is mapping, which is not operational yet. Please add comments on other problems with the wiki or other co-hosted sites at [[ServerImprovements]].

This wiki exists to document the game and to provide a community scratchpad for the players. You can find guides on things such as growing Flax, an [[Atlas]] of interesting places, and various personal pages created by the [[Special:ListUsers | Users]] and [[Guilds]]. If you're looking to buy and sell, try [[Trading]].

Anyone with an ATITD game account can edit any page on this site (see the /webpass [[command]] in-game to set your password) ((Note: not implemented yet). However, please read the [[Style Guide]] and information on [[Formatting]] first. Politics are not welcome (exception: [[Users]] pages, but no personal attacks please) -- if you want to discuss [[laws]], please use the [http://www.atitd.org/forum:forums Forums]. Please read our [[Policies]] before editing. If you have any difficulties, please contact a wiki admin ([[Admins]]).

Straw is made by drying Grass. It can be dried by dropping it on the ground (use a couple of small stacks of 20-30 grass instead of a big 100 one, way faster...) , or putting it in a Flax Hammock or Drying Rack. The more grass dropped in a single pile, the longer the pile takes to dry.

Straw is also a byproduct of processing Rotten Flax.

Straw is used for the following things:

* feed/attract Camels
* 2 used to make 6 Bricks in a Flimsy Brick Rack.
* 4 used to make 12 Bricks in an improved brick rack.

Rope is one of the finished flax goods. It is made in a distaff. Each deben of rope requires 5 debens of twine to create. Load the twine into the Small Distaff and spin the twine into Rope. It takes 1 minute to produce 1 Rope.

Rope takes up 1 Bulk and 1 Weight.

From tow it processes like this: 5 tow -> 15 twine -> 3 rope. You need 1 2/3 deben of tow (and hence make 1 2/3 deben of flax) to make one deben of rope.

Flax, once harvested, must be soaked in water to process it further. This soaking helps to separate the fibers from the less useful parts of the plant. The byproducts of rotten flax eventually become some of the most fundamental items in Egypt, such as rope and canvas.

Making Rotten Flax

In order to rot flax, you must have the flax processing skill; some flax, of course (harvested flax, not flax seeds); and be standing near a body of water. In your "Skills..." submenu, you will find a "Rot flax in the water" option. Once you have selected the number of flax to rot, a buoy belonging to you will appear with a red flag.

It takes 5 TeppyMinutes to rot flax. Once your flax has rotted, the buoy's flag will change color to white, at which time you can pick up your rotten flax.

Alternatively, flax may be rotted in a tub; however, since tubs crumble with use, this is never done in practice, except when there is no water source nearby.

Rotten Flax Uses

* Up to 10 rotten flax can be processed at a time in a hackling rake or flax comb and separated into tow, lint and straw.
* Up to 10 rotten flax can be dried at a time on a drying rack or flax hammock to create dried flax.

Buoy Facts

* You can rot as much flax in a single buoy as you want; rotting requires a fixed amount of time regardless of the quantity of flax.
* Once placed, a buoy can be guilded or given.
* You can retrieve rotten flax from bouys created by your spouse.
* Ownership of buoys was first introduced in the First Telling by the Flax Processing Co-Operative Law.
* Rotting flax in a body of water does not appear to have any impact on fishing.
