I am starting to organize a [[User:Sesnut/Pilgrimage|pilgrimage]] with other members of Silt Lake, and look forward to working with everyone to make it a success. The link in this section leads to a page exclusively for our guild pilgrimage, where members can check in on the planning process and details as they develop.

==Test of the Acrobat==
After a couple of disappointing experiences with the interpersonal dynamics of Acro Lines, I've decided that these are not for me. I'm happy to try acrobatics one on one with any friendly soul who cares to ask. As of this writing, I have taught 7 facets and fully learned: Cat Stretch, Leg Stretch, Roundoff, Wide Squat. My in game info page is likely to be kept more up-to-date than this page.

Much to my surprise, I have passed the Test of the Acrobat and become an acro master. I dislike acro lines, but will practice moves with anyone one on one.

Sesnut, dwarfed as she relaxes in the shade of her favorite tree.

Overview

I first came to A Tale in the Desert, and all of Egypt, through a long process of searching. My partner Injeru looked long and hard for a game which we could both play together. We're both gaming enthusiasts, but most computer games are geared towards the single player experience. Most multiplayer games we have found, and especially multiplayer online games, seem to be geared towards the same principles of "kill a monster, get experience points and loot, wait for the zone to reset and do it again ad nauseam and ad infinitum." Other players in the online games also seem inclined towards aggressive behaviour, working competitively rather than cooperatively, and using the anonymity of the online experience to get away with being cruel and rude to others. This last part is facilitated by games that build in "player killing" as a means of fostering competition and increasing the challenge of play. Neither of us is keen on violence, and we're both fundamentally kind and nonaggressive people. "Those other games" presented very little appeal.

Then Injeru found A Tale in the Desert and we decided to give it a try. He logged in for the first time, started to get acquainted with the Welcome Island, and after a few minutes spent watching over his shoulder I had installed the game client and started to play too. AngelRio was doing a round of mentoring on the island at the same time, and was tremendously helpful and friendly. As we prepared to launch our ferry boats, he told us about his home region of Adn and other parts of Egypt. We ignored his advice that we should use our time as immigrants to explore many regions before choosing a place to settle, and we went straight to Adn. There we were welcomed into the Silt Lake guild, and found it to be a community of sweet, welcoming people. We joined at a busy time, since our first full day in Egypt saw the wedding of our Elders, Hecate and Goof and also the construction of Oleg's desert obelisk. It was exciting, and frenetic, and everyone still found time to give helpful advice to a couple of newbies.

We're a bit more settled into the Egyptian life now, and it has been a predominantly positive experience. We're certainly hooked. We have settled in a little valley we have named Hathor's Bowl, which is conveniently right past a rise from Silt Lake's Acropolis, where we spend most of our time and do most of our work for the guild.

I very much enjoy foraging and examining the flora of Egypt. As a trained botanist and herbalist in mundane life, I am impressed with the detail devoted to their creation. I have become proficient at making simple glass and am starting to learn how to do more tricky production through actual glassblowing with the glory hole. Now that we have constructed a scent lab at Silt Lake, I am very much interested in making incense and contributing to research which advances the knowledge of all Egypt on this subject.

Paint

I am capable of mixing paint and have gone through the process of calibrating Practical Paint to configure my reactions. (Big tip o' the hat to Sigil for the tool!) I'll usually mix paints in exchange for materials at no profit.

Dessication

I have Dessication skill level 3, and will happily boil down salt and acid for materials - that's coconut water and sulfurous water. If you supply the wood for the kettles, there is no charge. If I need to gather the wood, I'll keep a small amount of the final product.

Test of the Acrobat

Much to my surprise, I have passed the Test of the Acrobat and become an acro master. I dislike acro lines, but will practice moves with anyone one on one.

Incense Notes

I will add information about my incense tests here as I work through them and properly format documentation.
