Scientists at Egypt's Great Universities of the Human Body have made a disturbing discovery: Evidence of Lycanthropy in Egypt!
I'd like to invite everyone to join our Halloween event "Werewolves in Egypt!" It is based on the party game known as "Mafia" or "Werewolf", but adapted to work in a massively multiplayer environment. This will be a Welcome Back Weekend, meaning that if you've ever had a paid Tale IV account, you can join the fun for free, no credit card needed.
Rules for Werewolf are as follows: To participate in the game, you must first build a Mortuary Temple. Materials for this are trivial: 13 boards, 13 bricks, and 13 slate. You must do this between:
10:00AM EDT (GMT-0400) Friday, Oct 30, 2009 and 10:00AM EDT (GMT-0400) Saturday, Oct 31, 2009
The game itself begins once the temple building phase completes. Everyone who has built a temple is assigned a role, either a Villager, a Seer (a special kind of Villager), or a Werewolf. Play proceeds in odd-even rounds of 20 minutes each:
During the night, Werewolves are active. They can: - Sniff Mortuary Temples to get a player's scent (3/day) - Attack a player who's scent they have gotten (1/day)
During the day, Villagers are active. They can: - Vote to lynch a suspected werewolf. Villagers get 7 votes per day, and can place them all on one suspected werewolf, or spread them around. Also during the day, Seers can: - Determine with certainty whether a person is a werewolf (4x/day)
We'll have some fantastic prizes for this event. Top werewolves (based on number of kills) can win rare Huntsman's Fishing Poles and Portable Cornerstones. Top Villagers (based on number of werewolves lynched) can win Topaz Light Boxes, Portable Cornerstones and Silver Powder. The Villager who lynches the most werewolves will receive a new, logged Microphone.
If you're returning to Egypt, I'd encourage you to explore some of the recently unlocked content: The Test of Hexaglyphs was the first of our Legacy Tests to be released, and challenges you to solve puzzles on boards of interlocking hexagonal tiles. Tale 2 veterans will remember a classic Test - and one of the most beautiful: In the Test of Flight, artists create air shows using silk birds and a series of pylons. The birds ride on natural air currents enabling an artist to achieve creative aerobatic interplays. Looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend...
