#REDIRECT [[Firebricks]]

For most building purposes, ordinary mud bricks suffice. However, certain structures -- generally buildings that use great heat, such as forges -- require more durable kiln-fired bricks. To make these, (5) silt and (1) sand are formed into (6) wet firebricks, which are then fired in a kiln to produce finished firebricks.

How to make Firebricks

Firebricks are made by firing wet firebricks in a box kiln or a true kiln. The latter is more efficient, but requires firebricks to build. As such, you'll need to start with a box kiln.

Made in a box kiln

Cost to produce (6 firebricks): 6 wet firebricks, 8 wood

Time to produce: 2 minutes

Made in a true kiln

cost to produce (12 firebricks): 12 wet firebricks, 6 wood

Time to produce: 2 min 15 sec

Note: True kilns have a tendancy to collapse - always make sure that you have several in order to avoid having to revert to box kilns.
