Korrin: Hello Egypt! Due to conflicts in schedules and timezones, we were unable to bring you a live DP debate this month. We tried! So instead I asked for questions, but I only received 2, so I had to go to Plan C and ask the candidates to just write us a little biography. If you have specific questions for the candidates, I am sure they will answer your questions on an individual basis. Give em a chat!
Korrin: So… Here goes. First off, Voyna!
Voyna
Voyna: I am an American woman, currently living and working in Romania. I played a small amount in T2 and T3 but had to leave for real life issues.
Voyna: Why would I want to be DP? Well, since it's not a test anymore people wanting to be DP must have at least one screw a little loose. That or they really love the game more than good sense. DP is a serious responsibility to serve the people of Egypt, its a challenge I aspire to. I have been asked a couple times this tale to 'mediate' problems, and darn it feels good when things work out.
Voyna: Achievements, Maybe 50 out of the 90? I'm a slacker. Seriously, I just work at the next thing that comes along, anything accomplished is a team effort and nothing I would claim as my own.
Voyna: What languages? I speak enough of the following languages to get myself into real trouble: English,Romanian,Spanish, Russian, German and Serbian. Many of the problems I have seen in this game are based on misunderstanding between people, even ones that speak the same language theoretically. If it came to a problem with non-native speakers of English I personally would seek help from a translator, the subtleties will get you.
And the Telenoc question…
Voyna: What would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? Folded-birch of course.
Korrin: Thank you Voyna!
Korrin: Now for Zildjan!
Zildjan
Zildjan: HI all! It is not the first time I am at a DP final but it is is my first experience at having to use this format to dialogue with the players in Egypt. So please bear with me and forgive me if I do not cover enough of the topics that are important to each of you. I would certainly encourage everyone to reach out to me and chat to debate any topic/issue you may want to.
Zildjan: So you may want to know something about me and why I am asking to be elected your next Demi-Pharaoh. Well it is simple. I started playing this game a few years back (as Zildjan since T2) and have kept at it since because I found this game to possess some important qualities. Most of all, that of being a community of people and as such, a place where most of us pursue, with the same passion, some of the goals they pursue in RL. So I'd like to share what values I do believe in. Honesty and integrity are my day by day compass in RL. I also believe in certain qualities of this game where human interactions assume as much of a relevant role as they do in our everyday life.
Zildjan: Therefore, I apply the same approach of being honest and respectful of others here in Egypt as I do in RL.
Zildjan: In RL I am a happy husband and proud father and many year ago have decided to pursue a path that has led me to leave my country in Europe to come to work and live in the US. This personal experience has given me the opportunity to challenge the status quo and learn to see things under the perspectives of different people, born out of different cultural backgrounds and life experiences (my own being that of an orphaned teenager that has eventually become a prosperous professional). It has also added fluency in English to my background of Romanze languages (Italian being my mother tongue I also can deal with French and Spanish). I do believe such life experience has direct bearing on my abilities in carrying out the functions of the DP office, where it is my belief that an absolute requisite is that of being able to listen to all involved parties maintaining balance and impartiality and helping to reach an equitable resolution of conflictual situations.
Zildjan: I have often debated in DP rounds how my approach to DP would be a continuum space escalating from dialogue to applicable corrective measure (help of GMs etc.) to application of Ban in a progressive stepwise manner to ensure that disputes do not degenerate while a solution is being sought. Therefore, my promise as DP is that of balancing a need for action and timeliness with a careful approach and evaluation of the matter.
Zildjan: For those that have not had the opportunity to know me well yet I also want to briefly say something about what I do in the game. This tale more than ever I have focused on helping with research efforts in Egypt and more specifically in Saqqarah. By no mean I can advocate to myself any particular distinction in providing the resources to be so effective in our research efforts. I hope everyone one knows the major contributions have come form a few guilds such as FoA and others, but I have been involved from day one in making sure that all good intentioned people would have a way of helping and sharing into the process and set up the Saqqarah research guild that has allowed everyone interested in making things happen.
Zildjan: A quirk of mine is that while I work rather busily at preparing mats and resources, I do not pursue tests until later in the tale when I work to get into ranks of each discipline to help with the construction of monuments. A consequence of my approach is that I end up using most of my time and resources helping others. Since T2 I have built guilds intended to provide access to resources such as ore and tiles to those players that join us later on in the tales and may have difficulty to access such resources. Helping and mentoring are activities I pursue in each tale as well. An additional task I undertook this tale is to support those that will undertake the upcoming test of Festivals by getting ready with production of some of the materials that will be most likely required. I can give many more details but that would come to the expense of the readers of this post so I will stop here and ask u again to open a chat with me.
Zildjan: Q: what languages do you speak? A: as I said I am fluent in Italian and English and can converse in French and
Spanish. For German, I can ask the help of many guildies of mine, :o)
Korrin: And now for the Telanoc question….
Zildjan Q: and what would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? A: now to answer this I need to know the name of said woodchuck, but I have a hunch wood would not be a favorite substrate!
Korrin: Feel free to chat our candidates with any other questions you may have! And thank you Egypt! Now get out and VOTE!!!
