Preamble

Cooks of ALL levels wanted to take part. Materials will be provided and the event will take place in a specially constructed kitchen stadium. Great Prizes.

murtha has agreed to be interviewed about the event on Saturday 17th April 2010 @ 20:00GMT.

The event itself will be commentated by Khaemwaset and hosted on FUNTASY.

Iron Chef will be a cooking contest suitable for all skill levels. Competition will be by elimination. Rounds will be by pairs given the same basket of ingredients and asked to cook to certain positive stats. Only required stats will count. The highest score wins that round. In case of a tie, the highest duration wins Meals must be positive in duration. The competition will go on until one cook is left standing. The winner will receive a huntsman pole. All Competitors will receive 3 wings of horus.

Khaemwaset: Okay welcome to Funtasy. Your cuddly RP channel dedicated to putting the FUN back into egypt. Cooking in Tale 4 has been an interesting experience. And with the tale appearing to suffer fro ma midtelling malaise a number of peeps are trying to recreate Egypt's active vibe. So, next weekend will see a visit from an old friend.... th IRON CHEF TOURNEY.

And with me here at funtasy HQ is murtha.... welcome

murtha: Thanks. and good afternoon egypt!

Khaemwaset: And for the moment i am suspending off topic posts

Khaemwaset: how are you murtha?

murtha: oh i'm just wonderful. it's spring and the gods are drunk with all the beer sacrificed

Khaemwaset: lol

Khaemwaset: Okay, so Iron Chef... what is it?

murtha: Iron Chef is a cooking contest. cooks are given given baskets of ingredients and asked to cook simple dishes to certain positive stats. no one will know what they have until they open their baskets

Khaemwaset: So no sneak previews then *grin*

murtha: what would be the fun in that ?

Khaemwaset: true. Okay so can anyone join in?

murtha: well for simplicity sake and the prize engine we have to limit cometitors to 8. but..if egypt likes this i'll do another before tale's end

Khaemwaset: excellent... but will any level cook be welcome? Some folks (inlcuding myself) only have lvl 2)

murtha: yes of course. The requirements will be simple

murtha: such as postive end and minimum neg dex. Of course the dishes will have to have a postive duration. So very simple receipes will do the trick though I've included enough in each basket so that dupilcate receipes should not happen

Khaemwaset: So even i with my limited cookign skills should be able to have a chance of winning?

murtha: thats a resounding yes!!

Khaemwaset: so when will this event be held?

murtha: Saturday, April 24 as {time:0900-1900}. kitchen stadium is located in QR 634 -6217- just south of CS. Hoping to cut down on lag that way

Khaemwaset: Okay so you have 8 cooks right? What about the rest of us? Can we come and taste?

murtha: i'm finalizing the list now. one or two haven't committed but i have reserves. and audience is welcome to eat the dishes between rounds. I'm hoping we can make this a regular feature

Khaemwaset: And each contestant has the same goodies to cook with?

murtha: yes

murtha: the way it will work is... I'll draw names to pair off cooks [and] each pair will have identical ingredients. They will be given 10 mins to cook their dish

Khaemwaset: A bit like Masterchef then :D

murtha: The negative stats will be subtracted from the postive (only the requred ones) the highest score wins that round. The winners will be paired and so on until one cook is left standing

Khaemwaset: I should point out at this point that I will be commentating whilst one of my fellow Funtasy mods will be moderating :)

murtha: yes and thanks to Funtasy all of egypt can participate!

Khaemwaset: Okay that covers the basics... before I open up the board for questions How many ingrediants in each basket? And does this inlcude herbs?

murtha: each basket will have standard bases and herb. I've put 20 items in each basket There are some ringers though so be careful:)

Khaemwaset: hehe sounds fun... Ok I think that covers the basics.. so if anyone has any questions pelase pm me. We will take short break for random chat and then resume. Alternatively post questions to Funtasy and we can mod them :)

Khaemwaset: As nobody has posted questions i thought i would chat to murtha about her time in egypt....

Khaemwaset: How long have you played?

murtha: hmm i've been here since near the beginning of tale 2. a couple of friends from another game brought me over and I fell in love with the concept and the people here

Khaemwaset: And why cooking?

murtha: well, i only cook by published receipe. But, Egypt is suffering from a bit of apathy and I remembered how much fun Iron Chef was in tale 2 . Plus i have warehouses of herbs so..it just came together

Khaemwaset: something proactive and getting people doing stuff ?

murtha: I like to create fun, as those who have seen my playground for sheep know.

murtha: and it might be a good way to wake up egypt:)

murtha: plus..the events team is awesome, but some of their events require you to play for hours to accomplish anything. This is an hour or two, if that makes any kind of sense

Khaemwaset: Ok a few questions from an audience member... Firstly how many herbs or arent you going to tell?

murtha: how many herbs? it varies depending on the stats requred. some requirements need more

Khaemwaset: The ringer--- will it give positive or negative attributes? Or is that to be determines by contestant?

murtha: i've chosen ingreds from Orrin's charts and some are there that give no help or hurt to the dish and some are there that will give a more neg effect

murtha: there is only one or two per basket, but i did want to shake things up

Khaemwaset: So the contestant has to eitehr think or experiment?

murtha: aye. of the common bases there are only 6 debens of each though and 1 of each herb

Khaemwaset: And your volunteers... are they recurring players or new to to Egypt?

murtha: both

Khaemwaset: Excellent.

murtha: that should make it more interesting

Khaemwaset: Definately!

murtha: i will publish the contestents as soon as I firm up

Khaemwaset: Hopefully a few gastro points?

murtha: i'm thinking of awarding extra points if someone comes up with a MP

Khaemwaset: Okay what about prizes?

murtha: that is random enough though, i'm not sure how that would work

murtha: okay prizes. and special thanks to orrin for them

murtha: the Iron Chef Winner will receive a huntsman pole

Alexa: will this be all cooking level 1 recipes or will it vary?

murtha: the 8 contests will receive 3 wings of horus each

Khaemwaset: Nice!

Khaemwaset: And are folks who are audience encouraged to come along and acro, hookah, wine/beer taste?

murtha: i'm sure something could be done. it's a good idea

murtha: i have thousands of herbs that could be put to good use

Khaemwaset: Okay as with many Player Run events we need YOU, yes that is right YOU to come along and take part!

murtha: and alexa, the cooking level receipes matter in how many bases you use

murtha: usually the simplier the better

murtha: in tale 2 we had a level 2 cook walk off with the grand prize

Khaemwaset: And if other folks like the idea of taking part.. you will try and arrange another before end of telling

murtha: yes, if there is interest

The Event

Queen's Retreat- yr4-Shemu I-13.

A quiet region of Egypt woke up to find a host of cooks had camped at a cp near the chariot. Our host murtha and her friend doubletrouble had cooked up a cunning plan to host an Iron Chef tourney. Alongside this people could drink and smoke and chat. Eight cooks had volunteered to try. sadly a number could not make it so several brave souls stepped upto the plate.

The brave few were MAMteles, Rabble, ysabeau, Sheeba, dedenav, fahli, Jaylenaebarre and Sonnenwanderer.

What follows are the edited high lights.

Khaemwaset: Good Morning/Afternoon?Evening Egypt. Welcome to Funtasy

Khaemwaset: I am here in Queens Retreat as anticipation mounts for the start of the IRON CHEF contest

Khaemwaset: Most of the chefs are here, :p and our host, murtha is ready and waiting. For the purposes of modding (I am commentating and modding) ED Stevehotep kindly took over the modding before Round 1.

Could SPAM be left until after the event. Just to explain for the viewers at home the setup here in QR. 4 kitchens... 8 chefs... plus wine and smokes. We have another host to assist. She is called doubletrouble

doubletrouble: okay folks quick run down of rules. Iron Chef Rules The 8 chefs' names will be put in a hat and pairs drawn randomly. Each pair will be given baskets of identical ingredients and will be asked to cook a dish to certain stats. Each chef will be given 10 mins to create their dish. Dishes of negative duration will be disqualified. Only required stats will count. The stats will be added and the highest score will win that round. In the rare case of a tie, the highest duration will win. If for some reason that doesn't break the tie, the chef who finished their dish first will win. The winners will be paired off until one cook is left standing.

Round 1- fahli versus MAMteles

Khaemwaset: As the chefs take their places... fahli at kitchen 1

Khaemwaset: And MAMteles takes Kitchen 3

Khaemwaset: And tehy are off. The chefs in this round are currently checking their ingredients. Whilst the punters enjoy the excellent vintages available. Hopefully there will be no sore heads tomorrow accompanying the wine notebooks!

doubletrouble: the chefs are furiously scrambling to complete their dishes. you can see the intense concentration

Khaemwaset: The heat is on (sorry for the cheese icannot resist)

doubletrouble: 4 mins left in this round

Khaemwaset: So doubletrouble... how many ingrediants does each chef have to choose from?

doubletrouble: 20

Khaemwaset: fahli now has stuff in her cook pot

Khaemwaset: Enough for one serving

Khaemwaset: And MAMteles is close behind

doubletrouble: 1 min!!

Khaemwaset: We should point out that the chefs have no idea until they start what ingredients they have

Khaemwaset: And MAMteles is done

Khaemwaset: Here i am with MAMteles and fahli... how did it go?

MAMTeles: well.. it was though, i'm all sweaty.. but i gave my best

Khaemwaset: Winner of this round is MAMteles

Round 2 Rabble and Sonnenwanderer

Khaemwaset: And they are off... The stats required are endurance and dexterity this round

doubletrouble: des and end:) end and dex last round

Khaemwaset: Both chefs are concentrating here.... the tension between these two competitors is palpable

MAMTeles: palpable? *blinks*

Khaemwaset: Aaand Sonnen is off the mark with ingredients int eh pot. Im sooo excited I cannot type properly. Wait. Icant type properly usually

MAMTeles: i hope he's not using my pot(ty)...

doubletrouble: 3 mins chefs

Khaemwaset: Aaaan the sledgehammers are now swinging in QR. Its not gravel... It is now folks are starting to cheer the competitors on...obviously the wine is wearing off And rabble now has stuff in the pot... no MAM not your recepticle And time has been called on the second round

Sonnen has 10 dex -3 end 1hr 1min 17 sec

Khaemwaset: And the winner of round 2 is Rabble

Jaylenaeybarre: ohoh and an injured man lol

Khaemwaset: And the couch welcomes Rabble... (haha) Congrats. How did it go?

Rabble: Well I lost that contact lense in the middle of making the meal. But I think it increased the stats so it's all good

Khaemwaset: And also welcome to Sonnenwanderer. bad luck.

Sonnenwanderer: That contact lense have been his secret ingredient i didn´t have ;) Stevehotep: Used a contact lense - but the meal had no Focus points? hehe

Orrin: Nah, he just lost depth in perception! :P ED Oh dearie me.

Khaemwaset: Many thanks gents

Round 3 Jaylenaeybarre versus dedenav

Khaemwaset: Stats are Con and focus

doubletrouble: 3 mins chefs

Khaemwaset: And 3 minutes remain the 'punters' (thats for the hive) are wondering what dishes are going to be served up next. What delectable delights of culinary excellent (shall I put the hyperbole away now) will be consumed. Will our chefs be marinated or thrown away?

MAMTeles: marinated with wine for sure... everyone... *ick*

Khaemwaset: <<remidn MAM that he may have to cook another round... so try not to get basted

Khaemwaset: And Time has been called on this, the third round

Khaemwaset: A 'punter' is evaluating the dishes

Khaemwaset: Jay has 0 Con and 0 Foc (0 minutes)

Khaemwaset: dedenav has 0 Con and 0 foc for 33 mins and 17 secs

Khaemwaset: This makes dedenav the winner of round 3

Round 4 ysabeau versus Sheeba

Khaemwaset: stats anre foc and con

Khaemwaset: Just in case you want to come join the party... plenty of wine here in QR. people are literally falling over themselves to get to it!

MAMTeles: they are falling "after" they get it, not before...

Philadelphia: i think i have to investigate this shindig

Khaemwaset: bring some wine phile and you will be v welcome

Rabble: We've only had 2 confirmed cases of food poisoning so far. And only 1 KIA

Philadelphia: oh now you tell me. "D

Khaemwaset: Both Sheeba and ysa have goodies in the cookpot

MAMTeles: this comentator is a pervert...

fahli: Sheeba starts with her base ingredients

Khaemwaset: the pots are bubbling away and peopel are still here enjoying the sun and wine fahli: oh, there is some frying happening in Sheeba's kitchen and the aroma is wonderful!

Khaemwaset: Sheeba has goodies bubbling in the pot

fahli: MAMTeles is still prepping, working madly in the back kitchen

doubletrouble: we are halfway thru this round and the knives are flying

fahli: oh, no, an accident in Sheeba's kitchen!

Zeb: is a healer around ?

Khaemwaset: never mind the knives.. its all fish slapping here

Khaemwaset: mamteles piles the pressure on by finishing first

fahli: and in an admirable show of sportsmanship, MAM offers Sheeba ingredients from his kitchen!
