Nile Green is a strain of flax which is randomly available for free from any School of Art. Along with Old Egypt, Nile Green is one of the two flax strains available to anyone at the start of the game.
Cultivation
Nile Green flax beds must be weeded twice, and the first weeding also requires 1 water.
Upon maturity, Nile Green yields 2 flax per bed. Nile Green is therefore a more productive strain than Old Egypt, but growing it in bulk requires access to water and a healthy collection of jugs.
Theory
It has been suggested that a School of Art will give you Old Egypt seeds under most circumstances. However, if you have either Jugs or Nile Green seeds in your inventory, and NO Old Egypt seeds, you will get Nile Green seeds. Needs confirmation. This theory does not hold -- I asked for seeds while holding 12 jugs and no Old Egypt seeds, at the Shabbat Ab School of Art at (1352, 1645), and got Old Egypt.--aporianaut 09:41, 24 December 2008 (EST)
The School of Art and Music will give you Nile Green Seeds if you have no seeds and Water in Jugs in your inventory. - BlueGrass
The SArt in Queen's Retreat gave me Nile Green, having a completely empty inventory. Though I have stashed one empty jug and Old Egypt seeds in a box on my compound but I doubt that'd matter. - Zarrab 09:45, 2 April 2009 (EST)
