Benefit
Salvage Techniques is a skill which allows you to recover a certain percentage of the base cost of a building when you tear it down. In previous Tellings, it followed a 'diminishing returns' pattern, with some variance for each material. For example, in Tale 3, it worked as follows:
- Level 1 - 40%
- Level 2 - 60%
- Level 3 - 75%
- Level 4 - 80%
- Level 5 - 85%
- Level 6 - 90%
- Level 7 - 95%
Salvage Techniques will NOT recover materials from Compounds which are torn down, nor from buildings which are too far depreciated to use.
Also, while the skill appears to depreciate in returns, note that if two players each start with two mine kits, the level 4 a player can expect to build 6 sand mines (a la 'blind dowsing') before running out of material while the level 7 player could expect to build 21 of them.
Not all level requirements for this skill are known, but a player can learn another rank in this skill from any school they have not already learned from, provided they meet the requisite character level.
