Guild info
For organizing an aqueduct for the Test of Life in Nomads' Paradise. Guild Hall is located at the coordinates -797, 2675 at the rivers edge north of the Crossroads.
Planning Notes
Caveat: Most of this information and planning depends on info from previous tales. Towers are used for Test of Life.
Previous Tale Info
- Towers are placed in a regular hex grid pattern, precisely 20 coords apart.
- Drinking from a tower cistern gives +1 to one attribute, for one teppy-day.
- Each tower gives a 3x boost to one vegetable grown within 4 coords of tower.
- Chance that a tower will benefit particular herb foraging within it's 256x256 square.
- Moss, seemingly useful only for research, grows around each tower's cistern.
- Tower height must be 5' or more over subsequent towers.
- Need good quality barometer to gauge ground altitude to determine tower height.
- Passing over raised terrain will reduce the costs of raising towers on that terrain.
- Tower raising costs are incremental, linear and without upgrade penalty. Cost to height F is:
- There is no apparent data regarding the cost for height F for the pumping station.
Route
An Aqueduct Pumping Station site has been found and is marked by the GH. See nearby usable NP Water Towers. Suggestions for possible tower destinations are welcome and currently are:
- The cabbage/leek spot, roughly at -1369, 2011.
- This is a gamble that the tower built there benefits one of those two veggies.
- Vaguely defined locations near the X.
- Splayed tree pattern to various potential herb foraging squares.
Best route will depend on destinations desired. The options listed seem to all require a chain of towers roughly 50-70 towers in length. Surveying with a barometer is necessary to gauge the correct costs - assuming relatively flat terrain gives maximal values for the cost of a chain, so these numbers are upper bounds for the cost of a single chain of N+1 towers with the destination R feet above pumping station level.
Item | Formula | N=50 | N=70 |
---|---|---|---|
Total Feet = T | N*R + 5*N*(N+1)/2 | 50*R + 6,375 | 70*R + 12,425 |
Bricks | 2,000 + 2,000*N + 50*T | 2,500*R + 420,750 | 3,500*R + 763,250 |
Concrete | 2*T | 100*R + 12,750 | 140*R + 24,850 |
Cut Stone | (3*T + N + 1)/2 | 75*R + 9,588 | 105*R + 18,673 |
Pipe segments | 5+ 5*N + T/50 | R + 382 | (7/5)*R + 603 |
Resource Estimates
Estimates used in calculations:
- Aqueduct Pump Costs.
- 5 ovens total, 1 producing yellowish, 1 producing pinkish tiles.
- Brick machines used are neither tuned nor upgraded.
- Single chain of 50 towers, with 40' rise.
- Average of 320 tiles produced each day by any single oven
- Average 45 gravel/medium stone.
- Cuttable Stones appear every 10 seconds in a 6 person dig.
Time and material needed for an aqueduct system:
- 315,000 Raeli Tiles - 197 days
- 50,000 Treated Boards - 100 batches, no estimate.
- 300 Marbles - 21 quarries, no estimate.
- 520,750 Bricks - 120 Greenhouse-days, 48.2 Brick Machine-days
- 31,750 Concrete - 706 Medium Stone, 127 Concrete batches - No Estimate
- 12,588 Cut Stone - 26.2 Rock Saw-days, 8.7 dig-days.
- 432 Pipe Segments - 73 Vault Kiln-days
- 18-20 Small Warehouses - unexpanded by Storage Improvements 2
- Assumes bricks are kept in machines until needed and
- Raeli tiles are transported to site as they become available.
Note that the building-day is 100% utilization of a single machine for a full day and that a dig-day corresponds to the share of work done by one person in a group. Machines are rarely so well used, so that an individual person usually creates only a fraction of a building-day during any given RL day. Also, the machines used for our purpose will likely be used for other needs as well.
Goal Estimates
Using an arbitrarily chosen goal of 100 RL days to complete an aqueduct, we have the following needs:
- 10 Raeli Ovens - 2 of each specific color, 4 of any color.
- 500 Treated boards/day - 1 batch/day.
- 3 Marble/day - 1 quarry emptied every 5 days.
- 5,208 Bricks/day - 18 Brick Machine runs/day, 18 Greenhouse harvests/day.
- 318 Concrete/day - 1-2 batch/day.
- 6-person dig every 4 days with all Cuttable Stone going to project.
- 4.3 Pipe Segments/day.
- 1 Cistern every 2 days.
- Full Small Warehouse every 5-6 days.
