Where we are
The beautiful and serene north coast of Adn where the Mediterranean waters ebb and flow along the shore. A brief run from Cat Claw Ridge's chariot stop. A little jaunt from the chariot depot of Adn. Come and behold the splendor the Nile's delta in North Egypt.
Who we are
Purely a social guild. A place where far-flung Egyptians can get together and have some company; gripe about the runs, brag about the beauty and the peace, complain about needing more travel time, revel in the lack of lag.
Anyone is welcome to join, but I would love for those in BFE to come and be an Exile with me.
MEMBERS
Choltai - Founder, Elder
Kirean - Elder
Kemiu - Intiate

What we do
Talk and have fun!
Enjoy the company.
Tell jokes. Dirty is funny.
Sing songs. Bawdy is better.
Whatever it takes to pass the time!
RP is encouraged - be your character.
Please, though, leave the drama out of the guild as it will not be tolerated. Elders reserve the right to decide the tolerated drama level and will remove anyone who brings it in.
The story
Several generations ago, my great-great-grandmother immigrated into Egypt from an unknown land and arrived in the large area known then, as now, as Sinai. It wasn't split into different regions then - the entire peninsula was the great region of Sinai. It was a quiet existence for her both because Sinai was a large, lonely area far removed from the other areas of Egypt and because she met no special person with whom to share her labor, no one to share her triumphs. The trials and hardships of starting a new life quickly aged my great-grandmother. While there were many good people there to work with, including a good guild led by a generous man, there was still a hole in her life. It was nothing more than a bleak existance of days without end, days with nothing to distinguish one from other. Even the nights, with it's cold stars, ran together. Heart breaking with loneliness, she passed on after only several months never to see what heights Egypt could achieve. She also left behind an adopted child to be raised outside the borders of our great country.
That child grew up on the wondrous tales of Egypt; imagining the land in all it's glory, power, and wealth. When my grandmother Choltai heard this land was once again ready to receive new citizens she went eagerly, traveling with only the clothes on her back, dreaming of starting a new life and an exciting new adventure. Working hard to help the community grow, Choltai quickly gained friends. It was at a research dig where she unexpectedly met a bare-chested man who was removed from Sinai by the authorities. He was leader of a group named Sinai Exiles. My grandmother petitioned to join since her grandmother had felt exiled in such a lonely place, and Choltai had vowed never to set foot in the place that broke her mother's heart. On a whim, my grandmother and this man decided to marry under the eyes of the Gods and the blessings of their friends. They worked well together but soon found the central region surrounding the lazy turns of the Nile too crowded to live in, too full of rumors and intrigue. They moved to the southernmost of Egypt, within 30 seconds of the lower border, in a sparsely populated and wild region. Having now willingly removed themselves from civilization and all it's comforts and advances, they settled a camp called Exile's Retreat. They built themselves a mansion and grounds of unsurpassed beauty. They wanted for nothing: anything they needed they made or traded for. The bright future stretched ahead.
Now, after a time this wonderful man's previous wife unexpectedly showed up. Choltai had of course heard of her - Pharaoh had sent her on a long and dangerous mission for Egypt. There had been no word for so long that everyone had assumed she had died in her quest; it was a shock and considered a miracle when she staggered inside the borders of Egypt again. When Choltai learned of the news she offered to dissolve the marriage, but in the end it was agreed they would finish the Test of Marriage and the divorce would happen in celebration of passing the test. While the man and his first wife mostly worked together, all three helped each other selflessly and built a glowing friendship together. Eventually a fourth was brought into this happy family so that the first wife could have a marriage recognized by the Gods and all the benefits it brought. For a time life was good. Laughter and jokes were plentiful. The world continued on. The bright future stretched ahead, no end was in sight.
I wish I could leave you with this possibility of a happy ending.
Unfortunately, betrayal was bubbling to the surface. When it broke, havoc was wrought. This unexpected and staggering blow immediately ripped this blissful group into four reeling individuals. Some had guild memberships revoked. The fourth left Egypt with his estate in ruins, no forwarding address. The first wife and the bare-chested man ran away from Egypt and did not return despite all hope and many sent messages. My grandmother attempted to continue on alone: tried to grind through the tests, she tried to use other friendships to forget the pain. She ended up wandering through Egypt in a daze for weeks and months. The mansion and grounds were left to sit unattended and overgrown until Choltai came to her senses long enough to leave it to a friend to use as he saw fit. My grandmother finally left Egypt as well when she could take no more of the memories.
So dear reader, as you can see there are no shortages of exiles whether made of outside devices or made of our own doing. It is to honor these memories that Exile's Retreat is founded.
