Greetings fellow DP nominees. Rather than place a rather lenghty chat in this channel concerning my position and philosphy about the DP position; I though it best to place my comments here for your review.
I have given the Demi-Pharoah role; as it relates to ATITD and its player community alot of consideration. Unlike most games, whereas a dev-appointed GM polices the chat, administers bans, etc; the DP uniquely has the power to adminster jail time, periods of banning and now; permanent bans. I see the day-to-day duties of the DP to resolve player v. player issues and perhaps upon occasion a regional v. regional dispute. The DP has no cognizance or power concerning the dynamics of game tests, principals, methods of processing, etc. The DP position is strictly held to, what I would call "policing" the game community.
There has been already some disputes among the community that I am aware of: building of mines in/near players cps, the control of the public microphone, obi line jumping, etc. The only method available to the game community to govern itself is the ability to propose laws and gain a majority of votes for it to pass. Even with this law making ability; there is still an abundance of opportunities for player disputes. The absence of any built-in game limits to control a player actions (i.e. building a mine near a players cp) and the complete absence of any type of regional or national authority produces a situation whereas the DP alone will be given to resolve a dispute and use whatever means he/she considers appropriate and render a decision.
There will be, without a doubt, decisions renderd by the appointed DP that will be considered unfair
