BASICS
Meals in ATiTD can be made from hundreds of different ingredients . These include over 250 herbs, 35 different mushrooms, fish, vegetables, meats and even odd things like dead ants.
To make a meal, you need to train the cooking skill at a School of Worship. There are seven levels of training available and it's good to eventually learn all seven. New cooks should learn at least the first four skill levels.
Each level of training allows you to add more sophisticated combinations of ingredients which in turn makes more powerful meals. Start by going to a kitchen that's been upgraded with an iron cookpot and adding in some ingredients. Every seven debens of food makes one serving. So if you add 10 debens of Honey and 3 debens of Camel Meat and 1 deben of Rhubarb, then you'll have 14 debens of food which will make 2 servings.
As you add the food to the kitchen, the computer keeps track of all the ingredients you mixed into the pot and how many debens of each ingredient you added. Whichever food was used the most becomes the base. So in the prior example of Honey, Camel Meat and Rhubarb, the Honey would become the base since you used more Honey than anything else. The other two items, Camel Meat and Rhubarb would become additivies.
You can add a total of 21 different ingredients to any meal but you can't have more bases than the level of your cooking skill. So if your cooking skill is currently cook2 and you try to make a base with 10 Honey, 10 Camel Meat and 10 Rhubarb, then the resulting meal will be ruined and have no useful stats. As such, it's important to plan out your meals and serving sizes before you start mixing things into the pot.
