Wiki Admins
Are we ever meant to use the "LOG IN" link? After using the "LOGIN with OPENID" and confirming it, which take three minutes to log in, we still have to do it this way? What the hell, this openID is not cool! - Seba

People had a mere 2 weeks to setup this whole server. It's already quite a feat that you just can login. Have a little bit of patience and things will work just fine. Unfortunately none of the admins could be here when the tale launched. But they'll get to the issues later today. ArmEagle 00:38, 14 December 2008 (EST)
As Armeagle said, not a lot of time was available to get things up. There are some definite quirks with openid that need to get fixed but have to wait for a server admin to get back. If you follow the instructions I listed above and still have trouble logging in, come into irc and ask if anyone is around who can help. http://www.atitd.org/irc/ - Teao
The useless Log In link is now gone!

Sekhar - The wiki keeps logging me out; is it possible to extend the cookie expiration to somewhere near never, or at least >= 1 day?

I didn't know about it till I read it on the main page either but: To prevent having to go through the ordeal again, check the "Remember my login on this computer" setting in your preferences. ArmEagle 05:41, 15 December 2008 (EST)

Also, the OpenID Confirm - is there not a way to permanently cache this once you confirm once per user? Other OpenID providers allow this. Since our use-case is so specific it may be nice to hard-code the confirmation for this domain for all users such that the confirm dialog isn't ever shown.

Yes, it's a bit awkward and hopefully removed, since all consumers have to be specifically allowed by the provider. But see above remark, the wiki you keep you logged in longer. ArmEagle 05:41, 15 December 2008 (EST)

Question about user pages...

How are wiki admins wanting users to create user pages? And should wiki admins place the format they want on the front page? I have been telling people in Meroe to use wiki/Users:<name>. Is this correct? --Users:Seba

after you log in there is a link at the top center of the page... if it is red clicking it will send you to the editor to create it with the proper name, if it is blue the page already exists and clicking it will send you to your user page. --Users:Strutter

Question about guild pages

We used to have on guild areas, viewable only by guild members for coordinating large projects. Is that possible on here? Sariel

For now that isn't possible yet. MediaWiki does have some solutions for this. But none are perfectly 'safe'. And unfortunately Mediawiki is less suitable for the way it was done with usemod wiki. But someone has been looking at it briefly and said it should technically be possible. ArmEagle 07:08, 18 December 2008 (EST)

Btw, you can sign your additions with a quadrupel ~ : ~~~~ArmEagle 07:08, 18 December 2008 (EST)

Top Level Request

Could we have a top level (i.e. on the right border) or otherwise prominent page for the game goals? It would be useful for new players. JulianJaynes 00:44, 22 December 2008 (EST)

http://www.atitd.org/wiki/tale4/Special:WantedPages and the language template

currently the language template is adding huge numbers of pages wanted every time it is used...

to cut down on the spam on :wantedpages I sugjest commenting or removing languages that where we are unlikely to get translators. --strutter 15:55, 23 December 2008 (EST)

Searching

The search function in this wiki is really weak. Is it possible to use google to create an index for us? JulianJaynes 01:34, 30 December 2008 (EST)

Drama Meter

I dislike the drama meter, and don't think it really belongs on the main page here. On its own page or a user page would be fine, but as is it dominates the main page, the function of which is to act as a portal to other information about the game. I don't think it's necessary for the main page to provide a place for commentary on the game's social interactions. --Injeru 23:20 05 April 2009 (EST)

I agree with what has been said above. However, I feel that the Drama Meter is totally inappropriate, not just on the front page, but on *any* page. The code of conduct for the wiki has always been that "Politics are not welcome". Not only do I find the Drama Meter completely inappropriate in that regard, I find it insulting as well. Most of the ATITD player base is (or considers themselves to be) adults. Having this Meter staring every visitor in the face, not only shows how immature we really are, but how we blatantly we flaunt this flaw. -- Myn 22:35, 5 April 2009 (EST)
