Directions for ordering paint

I live with the Paradise Plains guild out by the Red Sea near River Plains. If you'd like me to make paints for you, send me a chat to let me know. You'll need to bring the ingredients to me at my compound [2362, 2612]. For calculating the ingredient requirements of large orders, you may find the spreadsheet ( File:GHawkinsPaintCost.zip ) helpful. Notice that the spreadsheet does round up for the cost of ingredients so order batches in multiples of 10 to avoid any wasted ingredients.

Most recipes call for Red Sand. If you need some, it can be readily obtained at [2387, 2834] while you're on your way over to the laboratory from the River Plains chariot stop. Tips are not necessary, but extra carrots are always appreciated.

If you need to mix a particular paint to fulfill a principles requirement, let me know. I can mix the paint and you can take the paint from the mixer which will fulfill the requirement.

Most paint ingredients can be obtained with a little bit of effort on your part, particularly since I have managed to make all my recipes (except Lime paint) without the use of Toad Skin or Earth Light Mushrooms. I have tried to provide alternatives to recipes which call for Silver Powder and Dead Tongue Mushrooms, but they are sometimes necessary. I have a very limited stock of those ingredients on hand, and if you really need me to make a paint calling for those ingredients I would be willing to part with them for the shamelessly exorbitant cost of 100 Carrots per deben of Silver Powder or Dead Tongue.

Paints I probably shouldn't be mixing

One of the neat things about paints is that everyone has different reactions. I seem to have gotten quite lucky and have a diversity of different reactions which allow me to mix every paint color under the sun, and for the most part I can do it using fairly inexpensive materials. However, there are still some paint colors that I have recipes for but don't intend to mix for myself if I ever need more than a few units. I'll still mix them for you if you provide materials, but I recommend doing the same thing I will and finding a different user with a better recipe willing to do the mixing for you if at all possible. With a little looking you're almost certainly going to be able to find someone who can make it for you for less.

Aqua - Silver Powder and potash in an already copper heavy recipe
Fuchsia - A whole slew of materials including a dead tongue mushroom along with a wastefully high concentration
Green - Similar to Fuchsia
Lawn Green - Potash and copper heavy
Lime - My only recipe to require either earth light or toad skin mushrooms, and this uses both along with 8 toad skin, a silver powder, and potash.
Medium Spring Green - I've got two recipes, but they either call for silver powder or are copper heavy with high concentration.
Spring Green - Silver Powder and quite a bit of copper.

Recommended -ish Paints

Now here's a selection of paints I should be mixing! I checked the wiki for any use of -ish paints whether for principles or various test buildings like phoenixes or covered cartouches. Then I found my matching paints which have the best recipes and put them into a convenient list. Just as a reminder, if you need to mix a paint for principles, you can have someone else mix the paint for you as long as you are the one to take it out of the mixer.
