Granite and marble is a general term for 28 varieties of rare and expensive stone, which are extracted from the ground by means of a Stone Quarry. Quarrying is a team effort, as is locating an underground deposit of marble upon which to build a quarry. The Rocks of the Ages skill is used to find marble.

Each variety of marble requires a specific minimum level of Perception to find. Below are listed the various stones, in order of the minimum (or last known) perception required to find.
Besides all other uses, described below, 7 stones of a random kind will be required to build Pilgrim Shrines (See List) and 30 stones each of two random kinds to build Ceremonial Voting Booth (Test of the Covered Cartouche).

Oyster Shell Marble (Perception 1)

Construction of certain buildings:

• 4 needed to upgrade an Acoustics Laboratory
