Special Needs Players
We need to make allowance and provide some assistance for special needs players. These might include - helping someone place chits in a warehouse or a trial guide. As the event in not a timed one per player, there is no penalty for any group. The only time limit is for the entire group to finish.
Known players needing Assistance
- Rana - requires help with placing chits in the warehouses and will need a guide for the trail course. She doesn't know how to chat very well and will need a guide with lots of patience.

SCHU
Annoucement 1
People of Egypt, hear me! I am SCHU the god of air.
SETESH has told all the gods about hookah's and the smoking of herbs and now all the gods of Egypt want to try this for themselves.
I, SCHU, have set the people of Egypt a task to provide the herbs for the gods to enjoy.
On this day, the gods will decide on just one herb they wish to partake of.
You must provide just that one herb.
But know that the gods have mighty appetites and require as much of that herb as the people of egypt can provide.
You will have limited time to provide this herb.
The gods will bestow favors on those who provide the most quanity of this one herb.
Egypt abounds with herbs, but only on this day will you know the one herb required.
[ooc] Pharaoh's Garden will host the Great Herb Dump. This will be a timed event.
[ooc] Players will need 1 personal chits for registration for the event
[ooc] There will be no restriction of travel to and from Pharaoh's Garden during the event.
[ooc] Registration will open 5 minutes after the start of the event.
[ooc] There will be prizes.
[ooc] Awards ceremony will be at the Flight Deck. Celebrations and fireworks to follow.
[ooc] Event details can be found here: http://www.atitd.org/wiki/tale6/Events/Pharaoh%27s_Garden_Game_Event_3
[ooc] At the start of the event, an herb will be called out. You will have 45 minutes to bring as much of this one herb to the park.
[ooc] Players will build baskets in a designated area of the park near the registration area. Then they will bring a designated type of herb and place it in a the basket as an offering to the gods.
[ooc] Herb bundles must be in 100 debin units. Players may place as many 100 debin units of the designated herbs in their basket as they wish. They may build more baskets for additional quantities. Quantities less than 100 or not in multiples of 100 will be ignored. The gods only want herbs in multiples of 100 debins.

Official Notes
Common Herbs of Egypt
This is a list of the most common herbs as I've collected them. We should select an herb from this list. If we want to run this several times then a different herb should be requested for each run.
If we run this multiple times then perhaps we can have the event staggered to allow players in different time zones to participate.
List of Herbs
200 Anansi 100 Black Pepper Plant 500 Bluebottle Clover 600 Buckler-leaf 300 Cardamom 500 Chives 100 Cinnamon 1000 Common Basil 900 Common Rosemary 700 Common Sage 100 Covage 200 Crampbark 200 Crimson Lettuce 200 Daggerleaf 400 Dark Ochoa 1000 Discorea 100 Drapeau D'or 100 Dwarf Hogweed 200 Fleabane 300 Fool's Agar 100 Ginger Root 100 Ginseng Root 400 Glechoma 200 Harebell 200 Hazlewort 100 Hogweed 200 Houseleek 100 Hyssop 400 Indigo Damia 100 Katako Root 400 Lemondrop 200 Lythrum 200 Mariae 100 Meadowsweet 200 Mindanao 200 Morpha
Official Counts
We use the registration warehouse list to give out participation prizes.
We use the registration warehouses to get a list of all the players for the event (clipboard the names). When the event ends, Nik will have to look inside each basket for the amount and the owner of the basket and pass along the information to whoever is doing the score keeping.
Example of the score for herb X:
George | 200 | |
Jane | 5000 | (5 baskets 1000 herbs each basket) |
Joe | 100 | |
Mary | 100 | (199 herbs ROUNDED DOWN) |
Jane wins 1st place. George 2nd place. Joe and Mary tie for 3d place.
Taking Ownership of the Baskets
Nik will have to decide how and when to take ownership of the baskets and their contents.
Perhaps when she does the count she should flip ownership to herself or Aero Club so that the basket cannot be tampered with after the count happens?
Once she owns the baskets, she can remove the contents for destruction and tear down the basket.
If we run multiple versions of this, the removal should happen before the next run.
Basket Building Location Needs
- PGG Event 1 had 29 participants
- PGG Event 2 had 14 participants
Expect @20 participants for this event.
If we get 20 participants that is 20 baskets minimum. As each basket can hold 1,000 quantity a truly solo player will likely have only 1 or maybe 2.
But if players pool their herbs a single player may have many more baskets. If a guild pools all their herbs for one player, that could be a large quantity (eg 10,000 Common Basil) or 10 baskets.
The area where the baskets should be built needs to accommodate this and remain visible to all players and officials.
Also, some areas cannot be built on due to landscaping items, such as the area directly next to the piers, which is a roadway item.
Prize Considerations
We can offer more levels of prizes.
What kind of prizes should we offer for this “quick” event?
If we have several editions of this event should the prizes change?
Do we want a big blow out party at the Flight Deck for this or save that for the larger events?
- Fireworks shortages
- Wine shortages
We use about 40 bottles per event
My production is about 15-20 bottles per event if there's time to get it 12+%
There are no problems with herbs though – we have loads of that.
Where and how does Nik want to give out the prizes?
Event Q & A
Q1: Isn't 100 units too large?
First is I wouldn't /couldn't play this game because I don't have 100 of many herbs. Do you think we could make the amounts more friendly to poorer/newer players?
I would rather see bundles of 10 myself, but as I said I am not a rich player.
A1
The quanities are actually half of what I've collected because I traded 1/2 of all my herb stock to another player.
I picked the quanity of 100 because of this list and the amounts on it.
I figured some players will have exactly 100 or others might have 200,300 etc.
However, this is not necessarily cast in concrete and can be changed.
Q2: How many types of herbs will be required?
Second is how many herbs will be selected?
A2
There will be just one herb required on event day. It will be announced at the start of the event.
Q3: Will it be known ahead of time?
Will there be a list posted ahead in case someone wants to come to the park loaded and lives way out.
A3
We can post a list of possibles, prior to the event.
All the herbs on the list will be the more common herbs in Egypt. Nothing rare.
Nik wants a tie-in with the herb gathering event, so it's up to her how she wants to put out the list.
More Questions
Question 1: Is it unclear that we will ask for just one herb type?
Question 2: Is it unclear that if the herb is Common Basil we want 100,200,300 units of this?
Question 3: Do you think that players will not have 100 units of such an herb?
Question 4: How much of a difficulty would it be to change to another counting method (say 50 units) and have the counting go OK?
A4
Setting the value at 100 is really a gimmick in the game. It's only purpose is to set a round number and make players try to reach it.
Changing the amount should make no difference to the count because a basket will have X debins in it.
If we change the event so that there must be at least 25 herbs for the participation prize then when a players basket is checked we can verifiy that:
a) yes there's 25 min here b) total quantity is X units of Required Herb
High score is high score no matter if its by 1, 10, 100.
ex: Player A has 2,599 herbs Player B has 2,249 herbs Player A is going to win.
The other gimmick was to Round Down odd amounts to avoid a "near miss" collision.
ex: Player A has 521, Player B has 520. Player C has 522.
In Round Down scoring, all 3 would win (on a tie). If it's high score then Player C gets 1st, A gets 2nd, B gets 3d. (fixed typo here)
Question 5: If I understand Nik's timing plan, the Herb Dump Event would happen just after a Herb Gathering Event (next day?). If we add a notice to the Herb Gathering Event that references the Herb Dump Event, is that enough time for a player to gather enough of these types of herbs?
Question 6: Should we publish a list of "possible herbs" for the Dump Event? Perhaps 5 herbs that could be called out but only 1 of these will be called out on Event Day?
List example [Common Basil, Discorea, Verdant Squill, Thyme, Wild Lettuce]
A6 and A7
If we publicize the list of potential herbs, I would like the list to be broad enough to avoid a wholesale slaughter amongst players trying to gather "THE" herb. Im not sure how the Herb Gathering Event will run, perhaps Nik can chime in here to explain the mechanics there and how in might interact with the dump event.
Question 7: The Dump Event herb does not have to be freshly gathered, it can be from any source, trade, exchange, guild donation etc. Does this need more clarification?
One more thing, I was thinking that this Dump Event could be more of a Ninja Event for a lot of things: bugs, herb seeds, tadpoles. If successful and easy to administer we can ninja this onto the Calendar whenever Nik feels like having a Hurry-Scurry Event. :)
