Q1. For those who have never had the opportunity to interact with you before can you share a little about yourself, what you enjoy about ATITD as well as how long you have been playing?
Hello fellow players. I've played ATTID since midway through T2. Prior to T6 I played as Robare, for the older players who might not know Robby. I've taken breaks from time to time, but for the most part I've been consistently playing all these many years. While I've always been involved with large guilds as either a member or an elder, I view myself as a solo player (if such a thing is possible in this game). By that I mean I am very much a part of the social fabric of the game, but I tend to do tests and projects on my own. As far as what do I love about ATTID I could easily take up a full page relating that. In short....I love the friends I've made here, the shared experiences, the tests that challenge me in so many ways (Art, Arch, Thought, Body, Etc.) learning new skills over time, being involved with regional and Egyptian wide projects and events, and just the overall good vibe that you get from playing with fun and interesting people!
Q2. How you like T7 so far, it's better or worst than previous Tales. Which Tale was your favorite?
I like T7 very much! The pace of the game is fast….we have tests we haven't seen for many tales….it's a great combination of veteran players, long lost players, and new players! I think that Pluribus is trying really hard to keep Egypt alive…..there's still plenty of issues that might be addressed, but I think this telling has given us some new avenues while sticking to the basic tenants of the game as originally designed. As far or better or worse…..each tale has it's pluses and minuses….this being no exception….especially because we have less active players than some previous tales…but I would rank it in the top 3 or 4….still a lot to come but I'm very happy with what we've seen so far. Lastly…without question…T2 was my favorite tale….theres nothing like the first time you discover a great game. Most of my philosophy regarding the game was formed in that tale. There's been great stuff that has happened in subsequent tales….but T2 will always be special to me :)
Q3. If the general consensus of the rest of the DPs were that that person should not be banned, but you felt strongly that they should, what would you do?
I would present my reasons and my motivation to the other DP's and hope that …while they might still disapprove of a banning they would respect my decision. I have to say….it's hard to imagine a situation that only one DP would feel was banable! But in the spirit of the question I feel I could ban someone despite a non consensus if I really felt it crossed my ethics and moral perception of reasonable gameplay.
Q4. Many activities in Egypt are PvP oriented/ highly competetive. Recently some issues have been discussed in ET regarding Test of Retired Pirates. Please explain how you approach these sorts of tests and if as a player you use any method to improve your outcome like having alts/mules voting in other rounds to enchance your pass chance. Do you push/campaign your guilds to vote for you and or forming test/rounds alliances or salt rounds with players that have allready passed.
The issue of test manipulation and the use of alts to create an advantage are as old as the game itself. While some disciplines, like Body, Worship, and Architecture are almost cheat proof, Leadership, Harmony, Art, and Thought can be manipulated by many different means. In the end, it's up to the individual player to decide what the boundaries of fair play are. By the same token, if players become aware of someone abusing or taking advantage of the system, it is their right to impose sanctions in the form of shunning the player and informing other players of that behavior. As far as pushing/campaigning guild mates and friends to vote for or support me in some test, I see nothing wrong with asking for their help and support, but I would never imply that I expected them to do so. So much of this game is dependent on the help and support of others. It is only natural that you would reach out to the people you know. By the same token, I expect them to be fair and honest in that support.
Q5. How are you providing leadership in the game and amongst the player base?
Whatever leadership I might provide in the game and to players is restricted to my behavior. A good leader leads by example. By treating players fairly, being kind and helpful, contribute my services or labor when asked, share my experience with new players, and most importantly, keeping a sense of humor I feel that I'm providing a good example to others. We come here to play, to enjoy ourselves, and to achieve goals. It is not my job to tell people what they need to do. That's not leadership…that's management.
Q6. What specifically have you done to further the growth of the community?
I've been one of the leaders of keeping The Goods trading site going since T4. While it isn't as vital to the vast majority of players as it once was, we do provide a great resource for many players, especially new ones. I'm an Elder in several large guilds that provide a lot to the player base. In honesty, I am not as active as most others in those guilds, but I like to think I provide good counsel and am always willing to contribute when asked. I've been actively trying to keep the test of pyrotechnics alive. I contribute what I can to regional tech research in the for of materials. Lastly, I try to make players smile whenever I get the chance.
Q7. How do you feel about sometimes heavy use of macros in this game by many players? and If there was a choice would you support complete ban of macros in the Tale?
I don't use macros. Mostly because I'm a MAC user and there's not much out there for us. However, I see nothing wrong with using attended macros. There are many tasks that can be so mind numbingly boring that a macro is the perfect solution. I would not support a ban of macros in the tale.
Q8. Spouselog allows access to ban powers. Do you know who have access to your spouse account?
My spouse is an alt. Only I have access to her. In the interest of full disclosure, one other player in the game has access to my account. However, my trust in the player is beyond reproach.
Q9. Please describe what you consider to be "griefing" in the Tale.
So much of what players call griefing is simply bad or rude behavior. While players who engage in that should be shunned, it usually doesn't fall outside of the Code of Conduct set forth by the developers. Having said that, I believe that there some things that might require an intervention to try and persuade a player to correct their behavior. Building something within the clearly defined confines of someones established camp without their approval. Building bonfires on clay patches that are also within anothers camp. Using explosives to damage property deliberately. Marrying another player, transferring all of their property to themselves and then divorcing them. I'm sure there are others, but most need to be looked at on a case by case basis.
Q10. Easy question for start... Ninja or Pirate?
Neither….I'm a Clown.
Q11. Who would you vote for if you weren't running this time?
Yendor is a friend and guild mate and I respect both his gameplay and his character. Smurf is a new player to me, but he's shown himself to be be a kind and helpful player. I would feel comfortable voting for either. However, I would vote for Yendor.
Q12. Closing statement.
Thanks to Augir for organizing this. Thanks to the players who got me this far. Regardless of outcome, it's always a pleasure to have an oppertunity for more players to know something about me. I'm having a good time this tale, as always, and I look forward to more work, fun, laughs, and bugs in the programing!
