Use

You need the Chromatic Touch and The Science of Color techs.

Each Ribbon is made with 1 Silk Cloth and 1 db of Paint at a concentration of 50 (rather than 10). This is done in a Pigment Laboratory.

NOTE: Coloring ribbons is a bit more complicated than simply making paint.

Calculating Ingredient Quantities

Take your paint recipe and then use the following to calculate the quantities needed for your ribbon(s):

Catalysts (Lime, Potash, Saltpeter, Sulfur):

  • # of ribbons x 0.1 (example: you need 3 ribbons and your paint recipe uses potash...3 x 0.1 = 0.3)

Non-Catalyst Ingredients (Cabbage Juice, Carrots, Clay, Metals, Mushrooms, Red Sand):

  • # of ribbons x 0.5 (5 x 0.1) x ingredient quantity from paint recipe (example: your paint recipe for your 3 ribbons uses: 7 carrots...3 x 0.5 x 7 = 10.5, 1 clay...3 x 0.5 x 1 = 1.5, 2 copper...3 x 0.5 x 2 = 3)

Combining the catalyst and non-catalyst ingredients above for your 3 ribbons you would need the following ingredients:

  • 3 silk cloth
  • 0.3 potash
  • 10.5 carrots
  • 1.5 clay
  • 3 copper

Coloring the Ribbon

First, make the paint for 1 ribbon. Set your lab to batch size of 1. Then take your normal paint recipe for the required color and multiply all ingredient clicks by 5 except for catalysts (sulfur, potash, lime, saltpeter) who still get just 1 click. This will give you a Concentration: 50. DO NOT take the paint!

For example: using the above ingredient list, you would click: potash 1x, carrot 35x, clay 5x, and copper 10x.

Once you have made the paint with a concentration of 50 and have the Silk Cloth in your inventory, click the Make Colored Ribbons option on your Pigment Lab. One colored ribbon will be placed in your inventory.

Note: It is possible to make multiple ribbons of the same color at one time using the 10x or 100x option on an upgraded Pigment Laboratory. You will, of course, need 10x or 100x materials as well.

Known Uses

Bastet Ritual

One avatar requires two ribbons for each attempt.

To find out what color ribbons you need for the Bastet ritual, see Determining Festival Requirements.

How to use ribbons for the Bastet ritual:

  • Ribbons are used by attaching them to your hand, elbow, or wrist via your Appearance menu (Self-> Appearance-> Ribbons). It does not matter which spots you choose, as long as you are wearing the two ribbons of the color you need for the ritual.
  • Caution: When wearing one or more ribbons, you get an option under self / Utility to "Remove ribbons", which will effectively remove (and destroy) all ribbons, without confirmation. If you are wearing one correct and one incorrect ribbon for the festival, you can add the missing color in the third location. Bastet will be pleased when two correct colors are worn.
  • Once worn, they will "get dirty" and disappear in about an hour. You must have them on during the ritual, so it is important not to put them on too early.
