Revision as of 19:53, 22 January 2017
thestranger: the season has changed
Sedjet: ah, drat. See what happens when I go to feed children? :)
thestranger: who did you feed the children to?
Eugenius: I haven't had a chance to grow wheat for I am testing some theories on balance.
Sedjet: About that... ;)
Sedjet: Thankfully for them they haven't gotten old enough or ornery enough for me to think of feeding them -to- someone yet.
thestranger: Your body convulses. Drink some cabbage juice within the next 20 days, or you will DIE.
Eugenius: I am doing my best to help.
thestranger: Cabbage juice should keep me going for a while
thestranger: When talking about balance, each object has a certian weight and is made up of these elements
thestranger: To turn lead into gold you would need to know the elemental weight of lead and gold, then you could transmutate lead into gold with the right mixture
Kavad: lead has an atomic weight of 207.2 and gold has an atomic weight of 196.966
Kavad: gold is atomic number 79 and lead is atomic number 82
Kavad: So perhaps the difference of ~10 in weight, or difference of 3 in number, is significant
thestranger: yes lead is heavier than gold
Kavad: I should start using [OOC] tags, lol, since this room is now for direct stranger communications and hypothesizing
Eugenius: I am attempting to balance the ingredients needed for tincture. But alas to no success
Kavad: Stranger, when you say "these elements" do you mean the ones you ahve referred to before, Sun, Moon, Stars; Ra, Life, Air, Fire, Water, Earth, Gray or do you mean the periodic elements?
Kavad: [OOC] Eugenius... based on atomic numbers you might try something with lead and lithium (lead is 82, lithium is 3. 82 - 3 = 79 which is gold)
thestranger: There are only 4 elements, Fire, air, water, earth
thestranger: -2,-1,1,2
thestranger: maybe?
thestranger: Sun, moon, and stars are made up of these 4 elements
thestranger: the spirits are the water element
thestranger: that I am sure of
thestranger: so maybe -2 -1 0 -1
Kavad: I see, thank you for the clarification and detail. I am not very learned in alchemy myself, hopefully Eugenius has some ideas about what to do with this knowledge
thestranger: but maybe these "atomic numbers" might have something to do with it
Kavad: I see these kinds of numbers, and spirits are used in essences
Eugenius: Most components seem to be non reactive.
Eugenius: So I am at a loss to find which compenents are reactive with the others
Eugenius: Meaning water, aluminum, honey, and another component produces zero results
Eugenius: potash was the other element I think
Kavad: Could it be something related to essences Eugenius? Essences can use salts of gold and salts of lead, they use spirits of fire, air, water, earth, and they have properties that all range between -3 and 3 much like his 2 sequences there
Eugenius: To my knowledge though, it is ore that in used.. not salts of said ore
Kavad: [OOC] The wiki refers to salts in http://www.atitd.org/wiki/tale7/Essences
Kavad: http://www.atitd.org/wiki/tale7/Essences
Kavad: Also a lot of herbs are used in essences, I wonder if they correlate to the herbs the stranger requested
Eugenius: lets assume for a few minutes that spirits is water and fire is ore
Eugenius: err.. earth
Kavad: Ok
Kavad: (Shrubby Basil is used in an essense with properties listed as 0, 2, -1, 1, 2, 0, 0, 3; which has one of his 2 sequences in it)
Eugenius: oh oh.. I see a potential problem
Eugenius: All numbers are equal except for 0 and -2
Eugenius: oops 0 and 2
Eugenius: Nevermind, I am confusing myself
Kavad: In an essence you can have -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3 for values, but none of them can repeat except 0. So his second sequence -2, -1, 0, -1 actually can't be related to an essence I guess
Kavad: Do you have any clue what other system those might relate to?
thestranger: my numbers are just hypothisizing
thestranger: -2 for fire as it floats -1 for air as it floats 0 for water as it does not and 1 for earth as it falls
thestranger: the season has changed
I see a potential problem

thestranger: my numbers are just hypothisizing
thestranger: -2 for fire as it floats -1 for air as it floats 0 for water as it does not and 1 for earth as it falls
Kavad: Ahhhhhh ok ok
Kavad: So then perhaps lead (82) mixed with fire (-2) and air (-1) will get us to gold (79)
Kavad: And we can use water (0) if we need more volume or something
Eugenius: Water is set to 7 per batch
Kavad: I'm still pretty lost though, lol. Is any of this making any sense to you Eugenius?
Kavad: oh so 7 water and 3 air would be a total of -3?
Eugenius: Yes.. as I understand it
Kavad: Can you mix that with lead somehow?
Eugenius: Assuming lead is represented as earth
thestranger: The balance of mixtures will end up something like -9Qr1
Eugenius: 7 spirits plus 1 earth (star) we now need 1 fire and 2 air
Eugenius: just hypothesising
Eugenius: and for every star, the fire and air would rise accordling to make it stronger
Eugenius: Unless I have missed something
Kavad: Seems like it's narrowed things down quite a bit then?
Eugenius: If use of a wacky table is correct and we are trying to make gold out of lead... yes.. I do believe we are extremely close.
Eugenius: Unless.....we are missing a piece of equipment to get some answers
Sedjet: Do y'all need anything from me? I've got company coming so I'm on for a bit (and running out of SE) but if I can help in any way, let me know? I have some theories brewing about what the gold could be used for, but I'm resource low. Whatever I can help with I will though
Sedjet: I have more herbs
thestranger: There are only 4 elements, Fire, air, water, earth
