- Q1. For those who have never had the opportunity to interact with you before can you share a little about yourself, what you enjoy about ATITD as well as how long you have been playing?
A1: I first started playing around the middle of T2, and played until around the beginning of T4 when I took a break for college. I came back for the last few weeks of T6 and was here for the first few quarters of T7. I recently came back, and hope to be around for the rest of the tale. :) What first got me hooked on the game was solving thought puzzles, but now I also enjoy a variety of other things such as running around, trying new things, gathering resources, and building stuff. The thing I like most though is that the game has such a nice community, and I like to help people in the ways I can. Since I was studying computer science, I started focusing more this tale on helping people by fixing/improving various macros, and helping people with getting them to work if they had trouble. I now work as a programmer, and hope to get back into working on macros soon. In addition I've been teaching myself more advanced wiki editing and doing some of that, such as on the New Crosses page. Generally, those who know me tend to agree that some of my strongest qualities are honesty, patience, and loyalty. And I am often told that I am a good listener. One thing about me that I have started mentioning in DP groups more recently since I realized it it probably relevant, is that I have not been angry in over 20 years, and I think this indicates I'd probably be pretty good at staying calm when dealing with various situations.
- Q2. As some specific examples, would you consider any of the following playstyles as worthy of DP intervention? Obelisk queue violation, bonfiring of a clay patches to prevent others from building, using large quantities of alts to rig elections, mentorship advancement, or other test passes?
A2: No. While some of those situations might be ok for some discussion/mediation/arbitration, they do not warrant the use of DP powers.
- Q3. If the general consensus of the rest of the DPs were that that person should not be banned, but you felt strongly that they should, what would you do?
A3: I typically don't feel that strongly about such things, but I would most likely listen to the other DPs in such a case. A ban is a very serious thing, and should only be the very last resort if nothing else works to solve the situation.
- Q4. How's your progress in other Leadership tests?
A4: I have passed kingmaker, pirates, bureaucrat, hegemon, patronage, coalition, and plantation. I have not started mentoring yet this tale, though I did it a lot in my past tales, as I have had focus on other projects this tale, as well as irl. As I am already an Oracle of Leadership this tale, I do not need to pass DP to become one. So now I am mostly just pursuing it to see if it can help me help the people of Egypt better, and hopefully also help my spouse with some points for her kingmaker and harmony tests in the process. :)
- Q5. How are you providing leadership in the game and amongst the player base?
A5: As I have not been leading any guilds yet this tale, I've been focusing more on helping people and answering questions.
- Q6. What specifically have you done to further the growth of the community?
A6: I usually try to make sure any new players I come across feel welcome, and that they find what they are looking for (and any other player really). I also tend to tell people about the game irl, since most people have never heard of it and don't know such a game exists, and are often quite fascinated when hearing about it.
- Q7. How many Egypt-wide events e.g Acro, Digs or others have you organized in T7?
A7: None yet.
- Q8. Spouselog allows access to ban powers. Do you know who have access to your spouse account?
A8: I'm sure only my gf would have access to her account.
- Q9. As DP do you think you should share your password? Do you think a DP should have access to other DP accounts?
A9: I never share my passwords with anyone ever regardless of DP status. Sometimes people's lives warrant sharing of accounts, and I won't blame them for doing that, but if they are DPs they better be absolutely sure the person is trustworthy. When we elect someone as DP, we put our trust both in them, and in their ability to know who they can trust.
- Q10. What other powers would you like to see DPs hold, in the interests of improving game play?
A10: In most cases that warrant a DP ban, the person also knows how to avoid bans, so it would probably be nice with some kind of jail power like GMs have, but then again if that is needed then GMs can sometimes provide it. In any case, any power a DP has should be announced in system when it is used, like they do now.
- Q11. What question would you like to be asked, and why?
A11: Q: If you love thought puzzles so much, why haven't you built any yet this tale?
A: While solving puzzles is usually a lot easier than designing them, I do plan to build them soon. I was saving a lot of test passes for marriage, and will be going through them now that I am. But yes, I do love thought puzzles a lot, and if I have unused pieces left after solving a constellation, it's getting a low judgement. ;) QQ: Why would you want to be asked this question?
AA: Because I really enjoy thought puzzles, and would like to have more opportunities to talk about them. :)
- Q12. Closing statement.
A12: I have been in the public vote of DP elections before in T7, but have yet to be DP. I am honored to be here, and humbled by the statements made about me by those who voted for me along the way. Thank you if you consider voting for me, even if you end up voting for someone else, and for reading this at all! :)
