A good Venery requires a bit of advance planning. Dreasimy's Guide to Creating a Venery is very helpful. In addition, you can use this Venery Planner as a starting point for designing your own venery.

How to use this Venery Planner

  1. Copy and paste the text below to your own document. This could be your User page or sub-page in this wiki (if you don't mind others seeing your venery planning) or a private document.
  2. If you want more than 7 lockboxes in your venery, add extra Key sections as required. You only need 7 lockboxes and 6 keys in your venery to pass the Test, but can have more if you want.
  3. Replace the placeholders in <angle brackets> with your own content.
  4. Spell-check your content.
  5. If you want your content translated into languages other than English, such as French and German, translate it or ask for help translating.
  6. Build your venery, copying and pasting the spell-checked and (optionally) translated content into the venery gathering point and lockboxes as required.

WELCOME text: <explain how long the runner can expect it to take and how far they can expect to run>

OVERVIEW text: Welcome to the Venery. This Venery shouldn't take more than X time and will be contained in the box of which Uthought and Sharmony are the edges.

This Venery tells the story of Osiris and how he came to be the God of the Underworld. Let us begin...

It was a feast worthy of the gods, for, indeed, the gods were celebrating. Osiris, King of Egypt, and his wife Isis were expecting a child. The gods and their servants celebrated and Osiris and Isis recieved many gifts.

But Set, Osiris' Brother, was unhappy. In his jealousy, he desired the throne of Egypt for himself, and so he devised a cunning plan. He constructed a chest of wood to the exact specifications of Osiris' body, and hid it in a pyramid and bade the King of Gods to come see his gift.

It is your task to find this pyramid, which is VERY CLOSE, to continue the story.

CLUE text: "This box is special." Set told Osiris. "It is designed to fit you and you alone. It is my gift to you."

Osiris, curious about the chest, got inside.

"I do not fit!" He cried out, sitting up suddenly as Set approached the lid. Set looked over his brother and, thinking quickly, pointed at his sandals.

"It was designed for you, not you and your sandals. Remove them, and it will fit."

Doing so, Osiris lay down once more and, indeed, found that he fit into the chest perfectly. He was about to say something when Set slammed the lid down and, with several other conspirators who had been hiding in the recesses of the tomb, nailed the lid shut and threw it into the Nile.

When Isis came looking for her husband, all she found was one of his sandals, and a trail leading to the river. She began to search downstream, knowing that the Pratyeka wood chest was likely to land on the shore soon and, filled with the divine lifeforce of Osiris, was likely to grow.

Find what became of the chest to continue the story. You will have to swim
