Zaniac: Xanat Teppy: Ok, so right now I have it so that Xanet, for instance, is giving a +13/-13 effect, and the really common ones are doing around 2. Teppy: Camelmint gave +18 tlanthil: I got some spinnea for the first time an hour or two ago Teppy: ILet me check that one. Pascalito: and i just had first Enchanter's Plant Zaniac: but what is this msg the herb is off? Teppy: That means "Teppy is fixing the code, and if you see the numbers halfway thru and he changes them then you'll yell." Teppy: Ok, now name some herbs that you see from time to time. Malard: but wont we yell anyway? Teppy: Yes, but this way you'll yell once. That way, twice. Orrin: Squill Teppy: That's +13 as I have it right now. Zaniac: Whitebelly Teppy: 7 Mudkest: Patchouli Teppy: 18 Arame: Crampbark Teppy: 3 Zaniac: Crampbark is common Taff: buckler leaf Teppy: 2 Arame: Bucklerleaf is common Dreasimy: Pitcher Plant Teppy: 10 Orrin: Tagetese Sprocket: crampbark is relatively common, but definitely not amoung the 20-30 most common ones.. Please keep in mind that the herbs with useful stats (like crampbark) will be the most consumed ones Teppy: Right. Teppy: I see that used a lot in cooking. Taff: bull's blood Teppy: 18 on Bull's Blood. That must be pretty rare, right? Teppy: Looks like at the current state we're maxxing out at 18. Arame: Yes Malard: dont have a great deal of it in my chests Sprocket: with bot common and somewhat common hers giving +2-3 it will hardly worth it to try any kind of herb stacking Teppy: Let's try some more of the not quite common, but not real rare ones. Malard: if anything royal rosemary, wild garlic etc (c5 herbs) will have the highest potency for most of the tale. Arame: Maybe Death's Piping? Teppy: 13 Taff: Meadowsweet? Teppy: 10 Teppy: So how would you categorize an herb like Meadowsweet? Orrin: medium->rare Vulpine: Do you track how often an herb is picked, or just the spawn rates of herbs and thus their realitive rarity? Teppy: I know the spawn rates; it's the usage rates that are more interesting. Malard: semi useful, only used it when doing white sand runs (eaten fresh) Insomnia: i find meadowsweet quite a lot TheMazeEcho: not really common, but in the middle range Teppy: Ok, so I think that if an herb like that is giving 10's, then that's not so bad. Taff: it depends on where you live, really

Taff: it depends on where you live, really Teppy: Ok, next I'm going to fool with the stacking-ness of herbs. cory0210: eek! cory0210: I love my herb stacking! Teppy: It won't go away, but it's going to change. More though=better. Teppy: Ok, see everyone back here in a bit. Sprocket: With this nerf of fresh herbs stacking definitely wouldn't be out of control anymore (like before) Teppy: Ok, another question or two... Teppy: On a "great" herb stack, how many different herbs is it possible to stack? Teppy: And on an "Ok" stack, how many? Orrin: For focus, 60 was good, I think there was a ceiling. You'd have to try pretty hard to stack less than 30 Kartal: Is this assuming we are targeting a 'favorable' stat from an herb? Teppy: Yeah, let's assume that. tehmoosh: Orrin isn't that 30 or 60 figure the stat target, not the # of herbs you are eating? Teppy: I'm asking about how many individual herbs you might be able to consume. Arahgon: depends on the duration of the food you eat first , but normal i search for 3-5 herbs arround the camp with the needed stats and then i eat the base food and do a run to get the herbs so ill get 60+ on the wished stats Kartal: The 'most' ive ever stacked 3 herbs (2 were same type) but that was just due to locailty to where I wanted to fish at the time Orrin: When dowsing, I'd aim for 40 dex, 60+foc, 28 per, that'd be about 3 herbs Sprocket: It's rarely practical to find more than 2-3 herbs with the stats you're looking for Teppy: Ok, well let me tell you where I'm going with this... Teppy: Sort of didn't want to spill the beans, but it will still be fun I think... Mystraca: food durations are up to about 1:20, with planning ahead of time and pre-scouting you can prolly get 4-5 herbs easy Teppy: So I'm trying a formula where subsequent (stacked) herbs have a smaller effect, but the negative effects diminish much faster than the positive effects. Orrin: 3-5 herbs is the standard amount. You usually cant find any more than target your right stats close enough Ralomein: I never stacked beyond one, though I did get +67 Foc and Per once from a single herb. Zaniac: Mystraca the 1:20 are with anoyign herbs and not everyoen can do it most ppl get 50 mins orenwolf: Excuse the unitiated question: Are we talking "stacking" as in eating multiple from the earth, or cooking with them? Teppy: Fresh from the earth. Teppy: Cooking with multiple herbs is unchanged. Teppy: The goal of all this is to make cooking, incense, and all other stat boosters more potent relative to just eating raw herbs. Barek: Why do subsequent herbs have diminishing effect? Availability already limits the herbs that are eaten ... Teppy: The thinking is to make the order that you eat them in count. Sprocket: With common (useful) herbs giving +2 or +3 it will hardly be worth the bother to hunt around for a possible herb stacak. As it was before it could easily take 10-20 mins of preparation just to set up a route for some moderate herb stacking Orrin: TO be perfectly honest, I'm happy with any method that makes stacking redundant is good ellorin: that's not going to help with pyramids though Teppy, there are no herbs out in the desert Teppy: Right, but the increased incense potency and decreated timers on all the pyramid stuff will help with that. Kleopatra: will you change cooking as well? Teppy: No Teppy: Ok, that's what I needed - thanks all, back in a bit.

Jax: quality 401 Endurance -1 str, +1 edu Teppy: Ok, you need 500+ to start seeing the new effects. diania: using quality 515 citrus scented hopeful endurance, with weakness gave +2 end and - str Amhur: Got +2 con/-2 str from a quality 531 Akmenotep: incense is basically irrelevant for most stats as it is only good in camp so prolly endurance Teppy: Pyramids, Marble (quarrying). Eldrad: Pyramids are too large a range Teppy: Well the burners are expensive right now, but if they were not- is the incense itself cheap enough to set up a bunch of burners? Rogan: are there any plans for optimizing graphic visiablilities to help with the lag? Teppy: Try under Options: Video Malard: Incense will be comeuseful only when we can build lots of cheap portables (or cheap temporary) burners then you could put them on a route you wanted to push blocks along Jax: yes, resin is easy to get this tale Rena: 601 Clove, hopeful dex, lethargy gives me +2 dex, -2 end Orrin: No teppy, the cactus sap is a bit costly per batch, maybe about 2/3s current cost? Jax: change the huge quartz requirement to a large quartz Teppy: Actually, that's soundslike a good level of challenge for incense burners. Teppy: Everyone agree? Teppy: Too easy? Eldrad: assuming you're on food and have 7 natural endurance most likely the time spent filling/lighting/setting up the burners not even counting the materials and the time making it would not be worth the ~25% bonus. Akmenotep: yep Tammie: no please don't i already have 4 huges saved for burners Malard: i agree with Jax, large quartz Malard: perhaps a medium quartz for a temporary burner which can only be used for N hours Teppy: Ooh, I have a great idea on that. Teppy: I'll make the type of burner affect how long the stick of incense burns. Teppy: 'Ok, so I'm going to do that next, then fix chocolates, then we'll do a Valentine's day event, sort of late, but hey, it's still VD here. diania: ok i have a potential problem i am burning 531 flowery giddy, con forgetful.. and not getting anything. but... i am still under the influence of the previous incense i have burned, but I cannot get the new stats to over write/replace the old stats Sprocket: sounds reasonable Orrin: Ehm... that's not really going to do much IMO, unless you mod the current burners to burn for much (very much) longer Teppy: Yeah, double the current ones, then have the largequartz variety burn for the now-current time. Jax: you should implement censers as portable incense burners Teppy: Later; with some new tech, or skill, or ___? Teppy: Somethine. Teppy: Ok, thanks, all. I'll have an announcement here when the new burners can be built. Teppy: Ok, you can now build windproof incense burners with either a huge or large quartz. Those built with a huge quartz, including already-built ones, now burn 2x longer. Teppy: Chocolates have nowbeen recoded... Teppy: To make up somewhat for the loss of potency, I have increased both the effect and duration of chocolates, and have given then some interesting new behavior. Teppy: They now stack in a whole new way, but do not magically recall stats from the past. Orrin: Offtopic but kinda important: Can you do some kinda dev announcement that I'm pretty sure OSX client has a sound bug? had 4 tests come out with it Teppy: Not tonight - I'm really exhausted - been coding for nearly 12 hours straight now. Teppy: We'll do the chocolate-finding event tomorrow - that's probably another hour of code. Orrin: Ok, I've talked to Pluribus, been doing some testing on Intel machines for him to try and work out the reasons/causes tehmoosh: can we put a chocolate on your pillow? Teppy: I'll be curious to know what you think of this new chocolate behavior. Let me know tomorrow how you consider their new "value." Teppy: As always, if there are any exploit bugs discovered, it's fine to call my cell phone - a lot of stuff got added and tweeked, so if you're unsure, be on the safe side and call: 1-412-973-7914 Teppy: (If a GM is around, discuss the possible exploit first with him/her.) No1: do you have any idea of when (approx) the event will happen? Teppy: That will be the first thing I code tomorrow, assuming no exploits or higher-priority things between now and then. Teppy: 'night all, Teppy out! Teppy: ---
