Talk:Dowsing Map
Others will be coming soon, thanks to Lokim. - Orrin
Let's get this thing sorted!
Are you sure that the vein leading into the QR tin is iron not copper?
- Yes. We have a few mines there already. It's really iron and tin. I'll try to bring more data from QR. --Amhur 19:53, 29 December 2008 (EST)
Nice, that's worth knowing. Wonder where the copper is then... anyone map it for me? - Orrin
Is it possible to get icons for some of the other metals, incliding zink?
Usability
This seems like an inefficient way to handle this. Google Maps may be nifty, but this sort of calculation doesn't need to be done client-side in bloated javascript, and people shouldn't have to edit a cumbersome text file. My mining map is up here, and it's much faster. It also lets you register certain mines under a login so that you can show only the mines you own, for example. I'll be gone all this weekend, but I'm planning to import all the data here into that map once I get the chance. --Dachannien 20:41, 31 December 2008 (EST)
- What about splitting by zone? -Viscis
- This isn't a very usable page IMO. People are likely to end up here either because they are either looking for a specific ore or because they are looking to find out what is nearby. Breaking the data up either by zone or by ore might cut the data set down to a manageable size. --yaur 18:06, 13 February 2009 (EST)
Data imported into my mining map
I've just finished importing all of the data from this map into my mining map. Firefox has a lot of trouble on my laptop with the Google map because there are so many points, but since the map on my site constructs the image server-side, it runs a lot faster. --Dachannien 13:06, 18 January 2009 (EST)
