You multiply the difference between a 6:1 and 5:2 recipe by 7 to get the potency, which is useful information in its own right as it also affects stats. If you were comparing 6:1 and 13:1 durations, you would need to multiply by 14 to get potency. After you have potency, divide it by 7 to get the effect on the duration of a 6:1 recipe. - Tamutnefret
