Oops, been a while :-)
Actually have been playing steadily, just not showing much progress as I was making Obelisk materials. Finally put the 151 cubit Obelisk up last night. Now I just have to hope it passes!
I finished a few more easy Principles, so up to Level 19 now. I am very close on Cicadas so that will be the next drive to finish. I only need 2 more points there and I am close to getting the first of them now.

Gave a good push this past weekend on Cicadas and boosted my score to 30,000+ points, which was more than enough for my first speed point! I even have enough left that I am hopeful for a second point this week.
Completed Principles for Vigils finally, sitting in on a small one run by Nabbic. Learned about hookahs at that one, and got my Fumeology score up to 24. I have to look into getting one made.
I have all my metal tools now, so I've been gathering limestone like a madman and will be trying some glasswork later this week I hope.
I now have 2 mentor decrees in my Sacelum. One more needed for the Principle!

Closing in on my 130 cubit obelisk materials, with only about 300 linen left to make. I will try to trade for some of it if I can. Got my beetle terrarium up and running but I still need to learn a lot more about that. I can see already though that cabbage will be a problem :-)
Glass is getting to be a pain. I need better chisels so I will have to try and find some lead and tungsten. In addition to the flint chisels, I need to complete my metalworking tools now that I have an Anvil. I traded for some carpentry blades finally, so that will help when I need more boards.
Found a mine spot that gives rubies, so that was nice. Would love to find lead or tungsten but I don't have the time to search. I need to make more time for Cicadas but that will have to wait for the Obelisk Test.

Been very busy the last week, gathering materials for my Obelisk. Except for Linen, I had enough for a 70 cubit, but I will have to up that now as the region maximum is now 80. I think Linen is a bit too difficult to make in the game system, though. I picked up 3 statues in the Phoenix Race, along with 3 Pepper Seeds, but that wasn't enough to win. I need to look into stat improvements as most people were able to run faster than I could. It was fun though.
I've got my metalworking shop going, with a Student Forge and Casting Box. I'll use SACFAR for the Master versions if I need them. I was able to get a Silver and Aluminum mine this week also, so I made the Silver Bowl needed for the Test of the Vigil. I also got a cookpot made, along with plenty of nails and a Hand Loom, which doesn't break strings! I've now been able to crank out rope at a far better rate thanks to the savings in Twine.
The Carpentry Bench now has a vise, and I now have an iron shovel! Got to get in on a dig to try it out, and I need more Medium Stones anyway. I've acquired Level 2 on some additional skills, including Project Management, so I can now build Medium Construction Sites when needed. I've been making a few candles each day for another level 2 skill.

Learned Improved Brick Rack Construction last night and upgraded my Forge with a Nail Mould. Constructed the first of many Improved Brick Racks :-) Was in the right place at the right time today and partnered with Durgan to complete the Principles of Worship. Began construction of a Small Warehouse to meet my expanding storage needs. Got my Glaziers Bench built and went off for some soda and limestone.

Finished both the Art and Music Initiation and the Thought Initiation, reaching Level 9, Inititate of Six. A second mine, to get copper, is up and running. Did another dig for a good batch of stones, but need to do some more. Finished the second level of Ore Extraction and got Structure Repair skill. Learned to use the Charcoal Hearth, Compression Furnace and Student's Forge and made some iron bars from ore. This allowed me to build my own hearth, furnace and forge. Started a second compound building as a metal shop which will eventually contain all those devices. I now know where the Tin vein is, so plans are afoot for a third mine. Put up a Basic Sign identifying my compound :)

Got some major things accomplished over these holiday days off. Got my first mine up and running, producing Iron ore. The second sheep pen is in and filling up nicely. Recouped the lost stones from the rollback, and then some. Acquired the skills for Rock of Ages thanks to some grilled carrots and grabbed Horticulture while out trying the chariot routes. Those will be handy once more are opened up. Picked up a level on the Harmony Initiation and am 3 votes away from the Art & Music Initiation. Tomorrow I hope to do my Empty Hand Puzzle. I think I am beginning to find a rhythym. :)

The last few days have been busy. My sheep pen was up to 5 breeding pairs, so I have been able to begin slaughtering and finally getting some leather and oil. Plans are underway for a second pen. The Dromedary Pen looks cool, but I will probably never get a camel due to the massive amounts of straw needed. I put some in every day though and it's now up to 2K, so perhaps some day.
Like most everyone else, I passed the first stage of the Test of the Acrobat, gaining Level 5. I've taught 29 facets so far, and learned a number of others. Got my Cooking skill as planned and got a kitchen and firepit set up so I could grill some food and gather some vegetable juice for the Thought Initiation. My first 2 Apiaries are up and humming as well. No luck dowsing anywhere yet though. I took lessons for Mining and Chariot Repair and taught a couple myself.
Got in on my first dig last night and got 7 stones in the distribution, then WHAM!, a possible 30 minute server rollback as I was logging out for the night. Hope they are still there, or we'll get to do that all over again.

A productive and challenging first week. Made it to Level Four and have my compound nicely outfitted with a Sheep Pen and Dromedary Pen. Built a Guild Hall for what I hope will become a New Players Guild, The Eye of Horus. My goal for the next few days is to finish the Initiations for Thought, Harmony and Art & Music and collect Straw to see if I can get a camel. I think the next skill I will attempt is cooking, as I finally traded for all the needed seeds. The Universities kept giving me Onions!

A new player to Tale in the Desert, I've enjoyed my first day! 12+ hours of work have resulted in reaching Level 2 and completing the Initiation for Architecture. My compound has a True Kiln, a storage box and a Carpentry Shop, which I discovered I can't get blades for yet :) I even managed to help out the larger community efforts a little bit, hauling boards and donating Flint.
I don't understand everything that went on today, but I think our region, Shabbat Ab, did fairly well in unlocking technologies and getting things set up.
