Bezurn/AMIE/Decemeber 2011
So this was the status of my crazy cacti at the end of T4b. I played from early spring until late August when I decided to take a break and tackle real life some more rather than video games. When I left these guys were around 2000+ though I don't remember the exact number. I never had any problems with people taking ALL the sap from them, as cactus sap didn't have as many uses as it does now.
Ah, a new telling, a new dig. I started off in Midland Valley and worked on my citizenship there. I was pleased to see some old friends, such as tehm and verix (the T4b pharoah's acrobats). I too had achieved that title once in the futile quest to help complete acrobats on the Bastet server. When T5 came out it was a done deal as many casuals and hard core people left the shard in hopes of a thriving community. But I digress, we dig, which was fun not being the dig organizer for once, as I had previously organized bi-weekly digs for a few months on Bastet.
If you can believe it I went a whole hour and 20 min or something like that without breaking 1 shovel, the digging Gods from Bastet must have smiled on all my efforts there and thus I was rewarded.
Another day, another dig. This time in more familiar territory of Still Wa... err River Plains. This was quite an unproductive dig for the number of people there though as the organizers failed to open a second or third hole.
Ah waiting in line, so much fun :) A tip to any dig organizer, have the hole near a compound with a chest you can stash the stones in. Then you simply take as many stones as you can carry and you can walk down the line and give people stones. It saves quite a bit of time if you don't have to wait for the other person to respond and they can go afk while the spoils are divvied up.
An odd object I don't recall seeing under the trees while playing on T4b. I think this was during the Pheonix race.
After being gift wrapped two easy Pheonix stadiums near my home (which at the time was basically Paradise Plains) I decided to commit to the event. Here's me getting my game face on and paying hambone to the cacti Gods for good fortune :)
Running running running running. And after you are done with that, do some more running. Lacking any sort of fancy teleportation skills I compete in the Phoneix race. This is a shot of me running to a stadium from south of DoS.
Success! I would go on to tag 5 stadiums during the event. I had scouted out this stadium a bit earlier and had to wait for an EG stadium to be called before I got lucky.
And here I am feeding our future camels when the event comes to an end. The rewards were almost worth the effort, but I had fun regardless so thats what counts.
When I look at this screen shot I think of "At the Car Wash" and just replace all the 'Car Wash' lyrics with 'Acro Line'. It fits the lyrics pretty good :)
Lots of people at the "Car Wash" yea! Its the line that went so far it went into the hinterlands oO
I'm next, woooo! I skipped the second day of the event to get my acro on and got 1 new move I think here. The dreaded Squat Thrust
Finally at the homestead. After a lot of running around I decided I didn't like my camp in Midland Valley and settled at my old T4b spot along the red sea. I'm getting ready to make this a proper compound.
I hate rectangular compounds, so lets think of what shape I should make it as, hmmm....
How about a cacti? YEA!!
Groovy! This design lets me play the way I like to play. Doing many tasks at the same time. Later on I'd develop the compound to be able to work on forges / cc / (and possibly glazier benches), make boards, jugs, and work the loom, kitchen, and flax processor all at the same time. I can then put warehouses in the gaps for easy access to materials from anywhere inside. I dislike compounds that big guilds make that have only 1-2 tasks to do inside, it bores me greatly.
My first pappy run. I grew a TON of pappy on T4b, as I basically solo researched the very useful tech of Basic Trade :\. I don't think I'll do that this tale, but I did build a seed warehouse on top of Snake mountain (west of S Though in RP) that is open to the public. I don't think many people use it though as the ability to grow papy seeds in tubs later makes everyone hoarding greedy types instead of communal types. How sad :(
Rania and I were off together showing each other where we dried our papy seeds. This was on the way to snake mountain, and if you every want some carrion shrooms you can find them frequently here :) She went on to show me the famous Papy Mountain. Its a very nice place, but a bit too far of a jog from my home and papy growing area.
Is that a bird? A plahe?!
Oh no, its SUPER GRASS TURFFS!! They'll save us from our tedious tasks and chores :) I think I was down in 7L to go learn Obi construction here. I forgot to mention that I had demonstrated the test of Khafre's Children. Special thanks go out to kind residents of Seven Lakes, and Sufu of River plains for providing me with the seeds. I had not acquired any cabbage seeds from the Universities at this point, but with teamwork and lots of me running around I got those bugs out of our inventories :)
Ah life in the hinterlands :) I'll crack a bad joke from time to time, and sometimes even a funny one :P I found this one pretty funny. The conversation was about the worship principle and I said "We are heathens here in the hinterlands" when asked about a good way to do it or something.
The poor holy cacti :( Some stranger came by while I was away and completely emptied them. I don't know how but they were at 0 when I found them. Previously when I had left them the other day they were all pushing 600 sap. I don't mind if people take their fair share (3) plus a little extra for visiting my compound (15-30) but to wipe them out is very rude. I had thought about quitting the game at this point, but instead buckled down and pursued other interested instead of just building up a huge supply of cactus sap to bow down to.
I put signs up informing people that they were welcome to take some of the sap... but not ALL of it. These signs would do little good, as one person said to me when I caught them taking my sap "I wasn't looking for signs, I was looking for cacti" Some people... sheesh, its not gold, just cactus sap. Hoarders will be hoarders though.
I visited a sacred place and consulted with the cacti Gods on what their will was. Since the Gods had been angered by the defilement of their cacti, they instructed me to leave my home and search for the holy 'Garlic location'. This would please the cacti Gods and return favor and prosperity to the Holy cacti.
And thus my path in this tale was set. I would find my garlic spot, no mater how long it would take!
And so I grow
and Grow
Grew lots of vegetables throughout the land. Taking along the other static yield veggies to at least do something productive in the tedious task of garlic hunting.
From Thyme to Thyme I would take some time off and tend to the holy cacti
But back to garlic hunting I went. I grew on black sand in the corner of the world (23 yield leeks and cabbage here with access to water, nice spot :)
I grew on brown sand! Even found a few cicada cages along the way. You could say I was cicada hunting, but I like to multi-task and take a packet of seeds and some jugs to make the trip more worthwhile :)
Poor Gazelle, a gazillion people showed up to see this guy exercise his freedom to vote. I don't think he'll have much luck getting rid of the Safari test soon though, its a great test. About 1/2 of all Egypt showed up for this guy.
And for this guy, who failed to bring his Ferry boat to escape the mob of strength starved Egyptians.
A new year celebration (alone while I was semi afk having fun IRL)
Sappy New Year '
