This way we can coordinate across 18hrs of time difference and give both our keen contestants the opportunity to state their claims! And you, our wonderful Egyptians, can check what's going on at your leisure.

cate: Welcome to our newest DP debate, and thanks to the candidates who have agreed to share their innermost motivations with us!

cate: The first question is always the ice-breaker...
Dawner: Hi all :) Online gaming since '96, Egypt has been my home 6-8 hours a day for almost 300 days. My passion is reaching out to new people and helping them get started. I enjoy learning new skills and putting them to use. Latest accomplishments were the reactory and triple gearboxes.
Kalmkitty: Hello :) I am a mellow person and enjoy reading, music and ATITD. I am not a public speaker, but I am a people watcher. The thing I enjoy most in the game are meeting and interacting with such a diverse player base. I enjoy being useful and lending a helping hand in game and in my real life. I have been playing nearly every day since mid Tale 2. I do not see how being DP would change that in the least.
SECOND QUESTION If you win this election you will pass the test of the Demi-Pharaoh and be our 21th DP of this tale. What will you do differently once you have the role?
Dawner: I will be available to help in more ways.
Kalmkitty: I would like to see a change in how conflicts are handled. More like a trial..a small guild for the DPs and the ppl in conflict. The Dps can discuss in the DP guild and decide together how to handle it. I don't care for the current system of he said/she said.
THIRD QUESTION: Have you seen any bannable behaviour? What would be your approach as a DP to handling the situation?
Kalmkitty: Not that I recall. My reaction would be to use my judgement to assess how serious the behaviour is, and how immediate the need for action is. I would consult my fellow Dp's and go from there.
Dawner: I have never seen bannable behavior and hope I never do, but I would be chatting up fellow DPs and (or a GM) for their input.
FOURTH QUESTION What sort of leadership do you believe we need from our DPs?
Kalmkitty: I believe that leadership is something every Egyptian should practice.
Dawner: Right..
FIFTH QUESTION: What question would you like to be asked, and why?
Kalmkitty: What brought you to ATITD and what keeps you playing? I came from the Sims Online and a couple of things that has kept me here is the lack of violence and the strong sense of community.
Dawner: What do you do, or plan to do, to help Egypt as a whole? Continue to feed Egypt at the Cafe by the River Plains CS. It's entirely run on player donations, but we do the cooking. We accept help from players with things like wood gathering and grilling, and it's always appreciated.
SIXTH QUESTION: What would you do if you found out someone else had accessed your account and used your ban powers? (Note: Spouselog does not allow access to DP Ban powers.)
Kalmkitty Everything within my power to rectify the situation and then find a nice quiet place to hide the body.
Dawner: Change my password again, find out who "I" banned and get it rectified.
SEVENTH QUESTION: Would you rather be a pirate or a ninja, and why?
Kalmkitty: ninja =^.^= They are more cat-like!

AUDIENCE QUESTION 1: Anonymous by 'listener' request: What specifically have you done to further the growth of the community?
Dawner Feeding Egypt -- *cafe plug again* .. helping new players understand the twists and turns here (I'm "new enough" that the memories are fresh).
Kalmkitty: I have lent my back and arms to help with some of the pyramids. I encourage new players and am always willing to answer questions or lend a hand. I have helped ppl pass Humble Priest among other tests.
AUDIENCE QUESTION 2: Anonymous by 'listener' request: What, if anything, should be done to help prevent "DP-itis", that mysterious illness that has afflicted more than one of your DPs and resulted in their extended absence from the game?
Dawner Perhaps "invite" them to take a break after the election? :) (at least let us know they are okay..)
Kalmkitty: As I do not know the cause of DP-itis I am not sure of the cure. I have been playing forever and I don't plan on stopping ever.
FINAL CANDIDATE STATEMENT: Let's tell Egypt what they will get in a DP by voting for you.
Dawner: I'm here a lot. I want Egypt to be a happy place to come for everyone :) I'll do what it takes to keep it that way.
Kalmkitty: Someone who is willing to listen and is reachable. I have a good sense of humor and a good sense of fairness.
