Talk:Like sands through the hourglass

OK I did give up on this event so any comment can be viewed from that prospective but I thought I would give the folks who run the event some feedback on why I gave up.
- Ima a noob.
- I don't know all the mechanics and there was some "misinformation" handed out at the start of the event that likely affected my view of what was supposed to happen.
- I asked in L2PBS if this was group or solo. Several times I was told solo. So, I took my game time to go hunt for monuments.
- Later I saw the wiki map(s) that folks linked to which was a big help. But it was still a solo event: Right? No.
- Not a solo event but not a group one either
- Given that the veterans have had experience it wasn't surprising that they started populating the Found By column pretty fast.
- Not one time did I see "Hey Come Dig This Up!" in L2PBS channel but clearly and audibly the music was playing for some.
- I was still out hunting monuments btw.
- OK I got the message
- After my frustration was posted into L2PBS about "What is going on?" I got the info back: We're already 11 down... That means I never dug on 11 monuments at all. Not one. Why? Well, I was LOOKING for them thats why but I didn't know or never saw - we're digging this one up now and if you're not here well you're SOL.
- OK so suggestions on how to adjust this for the next run.
- Well this is "win by digging event", not a "win by finding one".
- I might as well have just waited for someone else to find them and go camp at the site, put on my dig macro and just park. It might be best to indicated this or to change the mechanics so that Hunting (successful or not) gets some credit. Because you can't dig if you don't find one.
- Make sure that this is marked "End Game Egypt Raid Type Event".
- It is not meant for noobs to participate completely. Yes I can and did but it's really for folks with mega-everything. That's not bad but it wasn't clear.
- If you come to LOTRO you're not coming to a Draigoch Raid unless you got the gear, weapons, stats and level for it. That's not wrong it's just the mechanics of a raid. This is like that. Something should say " Experts only, Noob events -> thataway.
- Better communication.
- Well any at all would have been nice or what channel to look in. Group coordination would have been useful. But as this event rewards digging and number of digs, it's not in anyone's competitive interest to shout out where the digs are happening because it would diminishe the dig-count.
- If I did find a monument, now I know, not to advertise it but to dig it myself solo until someone else stumbles on the site.
- Well this is "win by digging event", not a "win by finding one".

Update 1
When I logged in 2/27/2012 there was a discussion in L2PBS that some of the event was bugged. The monument I was looking for was one of them.

Update 2
- Scoring needs to be better explained and is also heavily skewed to veteran players.
- Evidently it is not the number of dig-clicks its the amount of dirt shoveled that counted.
So a 9Q Arch shovel does more work than a 6Q Arch shovel for the same number of clicks.
- Evidently it is not the number of dig-clicks its the amount of dirt shoveled that counted.
