A Sheep Pen is a building used for the storage and care of sheep. Sheep living in a pen will reproduce as long as there is at least one male and one female present. They will consume onions and produce dung. See also Modern Sheep Farm for large-scale breeding.

Slaughtering attempts on sheep in a pen are always successful. Some players build a pen with no intent to hold sheep long-term, but merely as a place to slaughter sheep picked up in the wild. Some are made public, see Public Sheep Pens

Warning: Sheep Pox is appearing in Tale 7.

Sheep pox was a fatal illness in previous tellings requiring the slaughter of all sheep in the pen. Transmission method unknown but might be from adding sick wild sheep to the pen or other lack of good sheep farming practices like under feeding.

In Tale7, sheep pox appears to work roughly how it did in Tale1. Pox can be spread by contagion, or may show up in isolated pens by random chance. Sheep in poxxed pens may not be picked up. Slaughtering sheep in a poxxed pen WILL cause an immediate contagion spread to at least the nearest sheep pens! The radius of contagion spread has not been established, but appears to be large. Starving sheep are likely to contract pox on their own, but healthy, well-fed sheep often do as well.

There is a cure!

In T7 once Advanced Animal Husbandry has been learned, Sheep Supplement can be created at a Kitchen. This will cure the sheep in a single pen of the pox.

Use

• A living and breeding space for Sheep (Female Sheep and Male Sheep).
• Allows guaranteed slaughter of a sheep, to produce 2 Leather, 6 Mutton, 10 Oil, and 1 Wool.
• Sheep in a pen produce Dung.
• Sheep require Onions to eat. They will eventually die if not fed.
• Sheep will not breed if there are 10 or more sheep in the pen.
• Can be used for storage of an unlimited amount of onions
• Can be sheared for wool.
