A Springbox can be fitted to some machines to increase their operating speed. This performance improvement may be applied regardless of whether the machine has been tuned.

Cost

- 1 random 3-ouput Gearbox
The quality of the spring used will affect the performance improvement. Higher quality is better.
- Quality of around 7500 appears to increase rate by 2x.
- Quality of 8500 appears to increase rate by 2.5x.
- Quality of 9429 for a Steam Shovel gives a 3.8x production increase
The gearbox required may be determined by using the Check Spring Box requirement option of the Utility submenu of the machine.
Note: Removing a Spring Box from a building (to change to a higher quality Spring Box, for example) changes the Gear Box requirement.

- Used to upgrade Flax Gins, Brick Machines, Automatic Looms, Automatic Sawmills, Steam Shovels, Limestone Augers, Steam Rock Saws, Steam Kilns, Steam Silt Collectors.
- May be fitted to Aqueduct Towers
