Opening The Test

To demonstrate that Egypt is ready for the Test of the Host you require...

• 42 Paper
• 14 Oyster Shell Marble
• 28 Linen

When starting the test at the University of Leadership:

Test of the Host is a test of your ability to gather your fellow Egyptians to engage in fun and interesting events. A minimum of 21 people must attend your event, which they will rate. The two hosts with the highest score each week passes the test.

To Pass The Principles

• Make some Linen
• Make some Wood Paper (in inventory, it is called "Paper")
• Build a Display of the Host (in a small construction site, requires 21 paper, 4 OSM, 4 linen)

The Following Notes Need Verification

This is based on information provided by those brave souls who have had a go at this Test, it is supplied as a benefit to all.

• Paper - you are going to need special Paper to build the Display of Host. First, make pulp in an Marble Tub°°, using sawdust and water (150 Water in Jugs and 100 Sawdust), and then process the paper in a Certificate Press. Finally, the wet wood paper is dried in a regular Paper Press using Rabbit Pelts. If Linen has been used to line the Paper Press, it must be removed and replaced with 6 Rabbit Pelts. The wood paper made this way will appear as 'Paper' in your inventory.
• Using the Certificate Press - Installing a deckle and plate into the Certificate Press has proven to be a bit tricky. You must configure the machine to print certificates first (choose a random name), then with the Monkey Wrench in your pocket and an Aluminium Plate, 4 Bolts, and 12 Washers, go to the maintenance option and remove the existing plate - stash it somewhere - NOT in your pocket - then select 'install deckle and plate'. The new Aluminium Plate, plus the Bolts, Washers and the Deckle will be installed. The old plate can be reinstalled any time, but each time you install you lose the bolts and washers.
  • When you configure the Certificate Press you get a message box with warning: Name of Certificates? Note: This can never be changed. Where this name is used is unknown. Zhukuram 21:09, 10 May 2017 (EST)
• A Monkey Wrench is made from 8 Steel and 8 Beeswax, made in any casting box in 4 mins.
• When you build the Display of Host you will be asked to give your Event a Description and then a Name. Once that is done you will be asked to decide whether the Event will be open to anyone or by invitation only.
• A six hour timer will then start. The Event details can be amended at any time during the countdown, restarting the 6 hour timeframe. Only the host can see the time remaining for the event, which starts at "about 6 hours" and in the last hour switches to minutes, then seconds. Any player can see how long ago the display was built, but not the time remaining.
• Events must have 21 or more participants to run. At this stage we are assuming that participants apply at the Display of Host, though this has yet to be tested (as at 28 April 2017).

I haven't tried this in T7 but based on memory and from wiki t2 info these seemed like some additional important points and that are still likely part of the test (blondie):

• When someone registers for a public event, they get an automatic event-related chat tab

• A minimum of 21 people must sign up and must stay within an unknown number of coordinates for at least 21 minutes, at which point they get a popup to judge the event. I also remember people coming up to the host display to participate.

Information From The First Public Event

Feel free to update, consolidate, and rewrite this as you see fit!

A public event was run on Saturday, 29 April 2017. Players had the option to join the event at the Display of the Host, and a guild-style chat tab was opened for all event participants. Each time a player joined, there was a red notice in the chat, i.e. "Peacefulness welcomes OneBanana". If a player travelled approximately 125 coordinates from the Display, they were no longer considered to be attending the event, but could rejoin when they returned. A player must remain within range, without going AFK, for 21 minutes, at which point they will receive a pop-up asking them to rate the event.

A second public event was opened within sight of the first one, 30 coordinates away. Players who had joined the first event could not join the second event while the first event was running, even after rating it. After an event ends, players are not blocked from joining other events.

Rating choices:

• Peasantly (0 points)
• Scholarly (1 point)
• Oracular (3 points)

At the end of the event, when the timer reaches zero, the host receives a flyaway and message in Main. "A total of xx attended your event, giving a combind score of xx." Your score in the Test of the Host is xx." The host's test menu also lists their accumulated points for completed events. Note: There seems to be a minimum number of points required to pass the test. The number is not yet known, but it is greater than 81.

The second host got the message "Only 4 people attended your event, so no points accumulated". The host self destroyed giving 100% of the materials back for everyone to collect. The 4 people are those who vote.

The Display of the Host also has standard Utility and Ownership menus. If the owner tears it down, materials are recovered at the owner's salvage level. In the Ownership menu, it can be guilded, transferred to a player, and its use can be set to public or private. At this time, it is not known how this affects scoring.
