DP Debate

Q1

Hi, I am Mariamom and I live in Desert of Shades. In real life I live in the UK. I have been playing ATITD since the middle of T3. I really enjoy the game mainly for the people who play it. There is good comradeship amongst the residents of Egypt which makes it a pleasure to play, and I look forward to logging in, especially after a busy day at work.

Q2

Personally, no I would not unless there was enough ill feeling that a major dispute arose and I was asked to mediate (i.e. bonfires on clay patches near someone's cp). While I do not approve of this type of behaviour, it is permissible within the game's rules and so is something that cannot, and would, I feel, be difficult for DP's to control.

Q3

If I felt strongly enough that a person should be banned, but my fellow DP's did not agree, then as the "sole" voice I would fall in with their decision and respect their opinions. I may look for further evidence to back my way of thinking, but would not consider banning anyone without full support of the others.

Q4

Pirates and Bureau I am not doing too badly, I have not signed up for plantation at this stage and Kingmaker I could do better. I am not too great at any form of prediction. DP - well here I am! Therefore it is work in progress.

Q5

I help to lead the vigil sessions which Kuupid organises. They can be quite feisty at times. Generally it is just being around to help either with questions from newbies in regional, and sometimes more hands on by helping with materials. I have also lead some worship initiations. I feel I provide guidance and reassurance rather than leadership in it's true sense.

Currently I am helping people to pass tests such as Seven Phoenix, Life and mega. I donate materials towards these projects and research. By judging as many Art and Thought structures as I can I am helping my fellow Egyptians to progress. I like to announce any pearl beds, safari animals, mushrooms or archaelogical sites, because if I don;t need it there is always someone who does. I also try to join as many public community projects, such as digs to try to meet as many people as I can. I feel a good DP should be active and seen.

To be absolutely honest, other than a few worship initiations, I have not organised any activities, but do like to support others who have. I have been on several digs, acro parties etc

This tale I have not married and so no-one has access to my account. In Tales 4-6 I was married but my spouse never thought to use my powers. He may have been worried that I would ban him perhaps? But seriously, it was not an issue as I trusted him.

I have not shared my password with anyone, not even my spouse in previous tales. It would depend on the circumstances, but I cannot really see a reason why we would need to log in as each other.

A DP is there as a point of reference and guidance. I think the power to ban people is a weighty enough power to have. Do they really need anything else? No, I don't think so.

Q11

A question pertinent to the DP role is: Have you had any experience of conflict in-game or real live? The role of a DP is that of mediator and so any experience would be welcome and appreciated.

Firstly I would like to thank Augir for organising this debate tonight. I feel that I have the attributes to be a good DP. I am patient, a good listener and can make sound decisions. I am also a regular player, as are all the candidates this round, and so if elected you can rest assured I will not disappear (especially as I have paid for the full telling lol). Seriously, I would like to thank everyone who has taken the trouble to put questions to us and shown an interest in the answers. I hope you have formed a better idea of whom to vote for. I wish all my fellow candidates good luck in the elections. Good night!
