- Pulsing - Strong glow on first star, and simple trail. Variability in size and length.
- Cone (comets) - Strong glow at the front, and diffuse into a short 'cone'.
- Bomb (poppers) - Hard to see, fly unignited, and explode at the end. Useful for delivering other stars.
- Trail ("Thin Red Line") - Long thin trails of light, for spirals and geometric shapes.
- Sparkler - Crowd favorites. Shower of sparks as a trail, but not always in the same color as the head.
