I suspect a typo in the italicized Long Coralfruit data point. Those stats aren't very close to qualifying as a Coralfruit. Linalia has a number of other entries in the table with a Sweet value of 540... this value (instead of 640) would work. --Numaris

Probable "Ideal" Values

Species Color Sweet Size Length
Citron 684 494 573 823
Coralfruit 684 427 624 458
Corian 325 652 591 486
Grapefruit 583 358 693 551
Lemon 415 289 411 614
Lenat 343 377 568 439
Mandarin 665 488 400 526
Orange 686 757 648 523
Pummelo 601 623 881 533
Sumerbell 662 706 300 441
Tangelo 583 734 566 641
Tangerine 664 653 574 372

Discussion A new way was used to calculate the ideal values. For a specific species the outlier values are ignored for a specific type and the average is then calculated. For instance any Greenish value will have the Color value farthest from the ideal, so for Greenish, the color value is ignored when calculating the average.

The new values differ only slightly from the previous ones but should be more accurate

The exceptions to the above procedure are Tangerine and Mandarin for which we do not have enough values. The color values are therefore strongly skewed towards Greenish in their case. If any one has other types of Tangerine or Mandarin this would help locate a better estimate for the ideal

I did some research on this in Tale 3 and came up with a similar ideal value theory. Each fruit has a set of values for ideal. A tree's fruit is determined by taking the sum of the squares of the differences between the tree's attributes and each fruit's ideal attributes. (Much like how paint colours work). Once a fruit is determined, the adjective is based on the attribute that is farthest from ideal. My list of ideal fruit attributes is slightly different than above.

Species Color Sweet Size Length
Citron 550 400 500 900
Coralfruit 800 400 600 350
Corian 250 650 600 400
Grapefruit 530 400 800 500
Lemon 400 300 400 650
Lenat 300 500 500 350
Lime 100 200 400 650
Mandarin 900 600 400 400
Orange 750 800 600 500
Pummelo 500 500 900 500
Sumerbell 850 700 300 500
Tangelo 650 800 500 650
Tangerine 800 750 500 350

This list is not 100% accurate, but seems to fit with my data fairly well (428 data points). I'll try to update it as I get more data this tale. -- Karriellyn

  • If Tangerine Color is changed to 820-822, this chart fits all data currently on the chart except for one possibly-erroneous point. --Numaris 13:02, 11 December 2009 (EST)
  • My data so far agrees with Numaris's proposed change to Tangerine's ideal color value above. -- LuluDivine October 10, 2010
