Theories

7 Classes (Confirmed personally are Water, Tree, Herb, Ground) Another class is from flax/thorns. Data on Arthropodology indicates that veggies are included too, and then an animal class. My guess is the 7th class is a "Rare Insect" class which would account for some of the spotty data (nightwing, Rose swallowtail, Corn maggot). Either that or certain veggies have their own class.

The methods for getting insects of each confirmed class seems pretty straightforward

Tree Dwelling : Harvesting wood

Water Dwelling : Gathering water/mud/sand, picking papyrus, pearl diving

Herb Dwelling : Harvesting herbs

Ground Dwelling : Digs, Collecting dirt, limestone, slate

Flax Dwelling : Flax, thorns, vegetables (?)

Animal Dwelling : Killing sheep (pen only?), camels

7th class : unknown

Table with data I've confirmed myself:

Notes: Based on other's results it looks like Golden Asp is my last Tree bug and Snowberry Butterfly is the last Flax one. Hairy Slug, Skinlicker and White Sawfly are reported by others as being animal bugs.

That leaves Corn Maggot, Dew Fly, Nightwing, Rose Swallowtail, and Stonefly as possible members of the 7th class. Stonefly or Dew Fly are probably the last animal bug based on the naming schemes. Total 46 bugs identified out of assumed 49.
