= Cooking from Scratch with Ruby =
 +
 +
taught to Kitten, Talos and Hanid on April 7, 2011
 +
 +
Ruby: I will answer your questions to the best of my knowledge, lol, but just know that I am not claiming that I know everything about cooking, this is just my experience with it.
 +
 +
Ruby: How much do you guys know so far?
 +
 +
Hanid: I know there are bases and additives
 +
 +
Kitten: yea and 7 dbs per serving
 +
 +
Hanid: I guess what I need to first understand is do herb stats match up with what will result in cooking? For instance, clovers tend to add speed if you eat them from the ground. Do they also add speed if you cook with them?
 +
 +
Ruby: I think it is a guideline
 +
 +
Ruby: so if adds speed you can assume it will in cooking too, but not always. It depends on what you mix it with.
 +
 +
Ruby: You will need the following 2 wikipages:
 +
 +
http://www.dachannien.org/atitd/cooking.php
 +
 +
http://3trends.com/tefnut/
 +
 +
Ruby: X,Y is coords on the cooking grid
 +
 +
Ruby: do you both have 7 gastro points?
 +
 +
Kitten: i do
 +
 +
Hanid: yes, why?
 +
 +
Ruby: So you can “critically evaluate this dish” in the kitchen. Now open kitchen menu and pin it
 +
 +
Ruby: clean out the cook pot  - do this before making new dish if it has been used
 +
 +
Ruby: Show the recipe - when you have made a dish you can view your recipe here
 +
 +
Ruby: even before it's done, just to see what you have put in
 +
 +
Kitten: that i didn’t know
 +
 +
Ruby: also, show the recipe will show the recipe to anyone as long as there are servings in the kitchen or when it's empty and it has not been cleaned out
 +
 +
Hanid: Can you somehow add to the recipe to this before adding ingredients?
 +
 +
Ruby: no, during the making of a recipe it shows what is in the pot
 +
 +
Hanid: Oh that is helpful
 +
 +
Ruby: also, it shows the recipe to anyone as long as there are servings in the kitchen or while it's empty and it has not been cleaned out
 +
Ruby: ok, now
 +
 +
Ruby: mix to add ingredients
 +
 +
Ruby: you will get up a list of what is in your inventory
 +
 +
Ruby: so when you read a recipe from wiki
 +
 +
Ruby: all you do is click mix
 +
 +
Ruby: and add
 +
 +
Ruby: then cook
 +
 +
Kitten nods
 +
 +
Hanid: so far so good
 +
 +
Ruby: a recipe must be at least 7 db
 +
 +
Ruby: 7 db = 1 serving
 +
 +
Ruby: so 14 db = 2 servings
 +
 +
Ruby: 21 db = 3 servings, etc
 +
 +
Hanid: Can all 7 db be the same mat?
 +
 +
Ruby: no
 +
 +
Ruby: 1 servings is made up of a base and an additive = a pair
 +
 +
Ruby: how many bases you can add is based on your cooking lvl
 +
 +
Ruby: Kitten, you have lvl 4
 +
 +
Ruby: so you can make a recipe that has 4 bases + additives
 +
 +
Kitten: yep
 +
 +
Hanid: Could it be 7 different things? Or can it be any combination of 7 as long as it is at least 1 base?
 +
 +
Ruby: the base should be higher quantity then additive
 +
 +
Ruby: no
 +
 +
Ruby: base should be higher quantity then additive
 +
 +
Ruby:  a serving can be made of 6 base : 1 additive
 +
 +
Ruby: 5 base : 2 additive
 +
 +
Ruby: or 4 base : 3 additive
 +
 +
Ruby: the base in a pair is always the same mats
 +
 +
Ruby: for example
 +
 +
Ruby: you can have 6 abdju meat and 1 sugar cane
 +
 +
Ruby: the 6 abdju meat is the base
 +
 +
Ruby: and the 1 sugar cane is the additive
 +
 +
Ruby: or 5 abdju meat and 2 sugar cane, or 4 abdju meat and 3 sugar cane - but it adds up to 7 db = 1 serving
 +
 +
Ruby: ok, so for simplicity, just use 6 base and 1 additive, it also saves on herbs and better in my opinion
 +
 +
Ruby: any questions so far?
 +
 +
Ruby: so do you both understand how to use a recipe from wiki?
 +
 +
Hanid: Pick the recipe that has the right stats and within the cooking level
 +
 +
Ruby: and just mix, add and cook
 +
 +
Kitten: yep
 +
 +
Ruby: next the cooking grid
 +
 +
Kitten: ok
 +
 +
Ruby: we need to use the cooking grid to find the bases and additives that work together
 +
 +
Ruby: if they are too far apart on the grid you will just get 0 on all stats and no duration
 +
 +
Ruby: and no dish, lol
 +
 +
Ruby: on the grid we have the foods that have been tested so far, thanks to arame and tefnut
 +
 +
Ruby: herbs in pink
 +
 +
Ruby: foods like veggies, fish and grains in blue
 +
 +
Ruby: and shrooms in orange
 +
 +
Ruby: ok, so you can use foods, herbs and shrooms as base
 +
 +
Ruby: some foods as additive, and all herbs and shrooms as additive
 +
 +
Ruby: I prefer to use herbs only as additive to save on their stats as they drop with overuse
 +
 +
Hanid: Interesting
 +
 +
Ruby: so just to make it simple for now, use fish, grains, shrooms or veggies as base and herbs as additive
 +
 +
Kitten: k
 +
 +
Hanid: k
 +
 +
talos: Question
 +
 +
Ruby: yes ?
 +
 +
talos: Is the coords relative to a random starting spot? Or it is absolute in a specific vector space?
 +
 +
Ruby: I am not sure how that works exactly, you might want to chat tefnut about that
 +
 +
talos: lol i have many more. I must make my cooking tool someday
 +
 +
talos: http://atitd.heroku.com/
 +
 +
Ruby: on the left side of the grid you have all the foods and herbs tested listed with coords
 +
 +
Ruby: Lets look for a herb on the grid
 +
 +
http://3trends.com/tefnut/
 +
 +
Ruby: Find sagar ghota for example
 +
 +
Hanid: OK
 +
 +
Ruby: find it in the list on the left side
 +
 +
Ruby: and write down the coords
 +
 +
Ruby: see it?
 +
 +
Kitten: got it
 +
 +
Ruby: what's the coords?
 +
 +
Kitten: -157.15, -77.78
 +
 +
Ruby: yes
 +
Ruby: the first coords, -157.15 is the X
 +
 +
Ruby: now , to move around in the grid, click on the double arrow on the top and pull the grid around with the cursor
 +
 +
Ruby: find -157,15 on the x or horizontal line, then -77, 78 is the y
 +
 +
Kitten: i see it now
 +
 +
Ruby: see it hanid?
 +
 +
Ruby: talos?
 +
 +
Hanid: Oh got it
 +
 +
Ruby: good
 +
 +
talos: I use my tool i just need the math formulas ;)
 +
 +
Kitten: :P~
 +
 +
Ruby: hehe, ok
 +
 +
Ruby: ok, so now we have an additive but we need a base
 +
 +
Ruby: so for base we use fish, grains, shrooms and veggies
 +
 +
talos: My question is : Give a pair that have an Eucledian norm X and a set of attributes
 +
 +
talos: How can i get the stats
 +
 +
Ruby: lol, sorry talos, I can't answer that
 +
 +
talos: ~is real cooking so a quick list of questions just in case
 +
 +
talos: i. How multiple additive works
 +
 +
talos: ii. How you calculate the coords of an unknown ingredient
 +
 +
Kitten: talos needs the adv class
 +
 +
talos: iii. How you calcultae the potency
 +
 +
Ruby: not sure talos, you might want to have a chat with tefnut about that
 +
 +
talos: ok ;)
 +
 +
Ruby: arame is the one that did the original grid, but he does not play anymore, but tefnut has done the latest addings so I am sure she can answer you
 +
 +
talos: but have months to updated
 +
 +
talos: My tool btw is easier for newbies to get the basics
 +
 +
 +
Ruby:Write down the coords and use it to find the herb or food you are looking for in the grid
 +
 +
Ruby: when you have found the herb, try to find the base to match it with
 +
 +
Ruby: one that is not too far away
 +
 +
Ruby: any suggestions for sagar ghota?
 +
 +
Kitten: so in this case medusa fish would be closest?
 +
 +
Ruby: yes
 +
 +
Hanid: medusa fish?
 +
 +
Ruby: but you can test all those around
 +
 +
Hanid: test as in cook with them?
 +
 +
Ruby: dark wheat too
 +
 +
Ruby: I would go as far as grilled eggplant
 +
 +
Ruby: well, this the problem hanid, this one herb, sagar ghota, will give different stats with different bases
 +
 +
Hanid: so if you had skill would you use elegia as a second additive?
 +
 +
Ruby: no
 +
 +
Ruby: you would find another pair not too close
 +
 +
Ruby: an additive will match up with the closest base in the recipe
 +
 +
Hanid: I think I jumped ahead, sorry
 +
 +
Ruby: yeah, I know some use more the one additive for the same base, but lets leave that out for simplicity
 +
 +
Hanid: On what would basis would you choose one base over another? Is it strictly proximity??
 +
 +
Ruby: no, not only
 +
 +
Ruby: you would prefer to have it as close as possible, but that's not always the one giving the best stats
 +
 +
Ruby: proximity is important for duration
 +
 +
Hanid: Oh
 +
 +
Hanid: Just wondering if there was a reason to start with sagar ghota?
 +
 +
Ruby: lol, no
 +
 +
Ruby: I just picked one
 +
 +
Hanid: Is there any way one can tell from the grid what stats might happen?
 +
 +
Ruby: no
 +
 +
Ruby: but I will get to that
 +
 +
Hanid: ok
 +
Ruby: did you get sagar ghota + 6 oyster meat?
 +
 +
Kitten: does it mater which  order you add ingredients?
 +
 +
Ruby: no
 +
 +
Ruby: I just wanted you to understand that different stats will occur with same herb but different bases
 +
 +
Hanid: OK
 +
 +
Ruby: ok, next MP's
 +
 +
Kitten: k
 +
 +
Ruby: to get MP's you need high duration
 +
 +
Ruby: you get high duration by mixing base + additive that is close
 +
 +
Kitten: k
 +
 +
Ruby: for example, as a general rule, sagar ghota + medusafish would get higher duration then sagar ghota + oyster
 +
 +
Ruby: some foods and herbs are stronger then others, so that is just a general rule
 +
 +
Ruby: so at lvl 4, I would pick 4 pairs
 +
 +
Ruby: each pair should have close base + additive
 +
 +
Ruby: you won't always get MP even with high duration, so if you don't, just try again
 +
 +
Ruby: some pairs are better then others for MP's
 +
 +
Ruby: so at lvl 4, with 4 pairs and you have an MP, keep 3 pairs and add a new one
 +
 +
Ruby: keep taking out one pair and adding another
 +
 +
Kitten: k
 +
 +
Ruby: also 4:3 works well for mp's
 +
 +
Ruby: or even 2:1, just keep in mind that 1 serving = 7 db's
 +
 +
Hanid: How do you do 2:1 and get 7db? 14:7?
 +
 +
Ruby: no, you do 3 pairs, each with 2 base and 1 additive
 +
 +
Ruby: (2+1)3 = 9
 +
 +
Hanid: that is 9db yes so . . .
 +
 +
Ruby: and 1 serving is 7 db so you just loose a bit of mats
 +
 +
Hanid: anything over 7db? not exactly 7db?
 +
 +
Ruby: yeah, 7-13 will give you 1
 +
 +
Ruby: and 14-20 will give you 2 servings
 +
 +
Hanid: I am learning a lot :-)
 +
 +
Ruby: 21 is 3 servings, nothing in between
 +
 +
Ruby: so when you make a dish, it's good to keep in mind that it should be divisable by 7
 +
 +
Ruby: you can also use more base and less additive if you cook for many and want many servings
 +
 +
Hanid: So for those of us who are interested in stat improvement, how do we figure that out?
 +
 +
Ruby: yes, that's a bit more complicated
 +
 +
Ruby: first
 +
 +
Ruby: I use this one http://www.dachannien.org/atitd/cooking.php
 +
 +
Ruby: talos has one too, http://atitd.heroku.com/ I am just used to dachs
 +
 +
Ruby: this will give an idea of what herbs is + or - the different stats
 +
 +
Ruby: no numbers
 +
 +
Ruby: you go to the search area and you can click the filter
 +
 +
Ruby: try with just one
 +
 +
Ruby: like end
 +
 +
Hanid: OK
 +
 +
Ruby: this is just a guideline to use so that you have an idea of what stats it will give
 +
 +
Ruby: you can find a herb and mix with a base from the cooking grid
 +
 +
Ruby: you can find 4 pairs that way and cook a recipe that most likely will give good stats for end
 +
 +
Ruby: but - if one wants to know for sure what stats a pair give
 +
 +
Ruby: you have to test them
 +
 +
Ruby: each one
 +
 +
Ruby: I do that
 +
 +
Ruby: since I know that one herb will give different stats with different bases
 +
 +
Hanid: do you always start with an herb?
 +
 +
Ruby: I used to, but now if I sometimes start with base and work my way around with all the herbs around it
 +
 +
Ruby: like cocoa , didn't have that when I first started charting the stats
 +
 +
Hanid: OK
 +
 +
Hanid: would you ever start with something like that and find a close herb?
 +
 +
Ruby: yes, and with fish
 +
 +
Ruby: doesn't matter really, the point is just to test the pairs
 +
 +
Ruby: and I always test 6:1
 +
 +
Ruby: when you find pairs on the grid, make sure they are not too close to each other or they will interact
 +
 +
Hanid: I heard that recipes become less potent with use
 +
 +
Hanid: Is that true?
 +
 +
Ruby: yes, that's true
 +
 +
Ruby: but -
 +
 +
Ruby: also, in my experience, the more herbs you use, the more it drops
 +
 +
Ruby: so if you use higher base, less herbs, slower drop in stats
 +
 +
Hanid: So to review a bit
 +
 +
Hanid: First search for the stat herb/food
 +
 +
Ruby: yes
 +
 +
Hanid: then go to the grid and find pair
 +
 +
Ruby: yes
 +
 +
Hanid: in increments of at least 7 with base more than additive
 +
 +
Ruby: find the herbs you want to use, find a base fairly close on the grid
 +
 +
Ruby: right
 +
 +
Hanid: You make it sound so easy roflmao
 +
 +
Ruby: lol
 +
 +
Ruby: the hard part is testing the pairs
 +
 +
Ruby: then matching afterwards
 +
 +
Ruby: but, one can also just pick from the stats page and just pick a base and cook with that
 +
 +
Ruby: I mean, find the pairs and cook, without testing each pair first
 +
 +
Hanid: How predictable are the outcomes from the stats page?
 +
 +
Ruby: well, you should for sure get + stats
 +
 +
Ruby: but it depends on how lucky you are really
 +
 +
Ruby: with the ones you pick
 +
 +
Hanid: and how overused some herbs are?
 +
 +
Ruby: yes
 +
 +
Ruby: then they will have lost stats and duration too maybe
 +
 +
Hanid: So for example common herbs may be less useful?
 +
 +
Ruby: right, in general, the rarer the herbs the better duration
 +
 +
Ruby: but they also had less potency from start as far as I know
 +
 +
Kitten: so do all vmy 4 pairnings need to be close?
 +
 +
Ruby: the base + additive should be close, each pair should not be close
 +
 +
Ruby: when you guys cook
 +
 +
Ruby: you can critically view, will show stats + duration
 +
 +
Ruby: if you have 2 pairs too close, they might pair up differently then you wanted them too
 +
 +
Ruby: oh and one more thing
 +
 +
Ruby: if you do start testing pairs, write them down, all the stats and duration
 +
 +
Ruby: then when you want a dish with say + dex
 +
 +
Ruby: you pick the ones from the book with your tested pairs
 +
 +
Ruby: and what I do is that I add the stats of the pairs
 +
 +
Ruby: it gives an idea of how much the final stats will be
 +
 +
Hanid: do you ever add similar stat pairs?
 +
 +
Hanid: Say 2 end pairs
 +
 +
Ruby: sure
 +
 +
Ruby: I add 7 end pairs if I want an end recipe
 +
 +
Hanid: and will that bump up end or does it increase duration or none of the above?
 +
 +
Ruby: it will bump up end and duration
 +
 +
Ruby: but not like you can add all the numbers and that is what you will get
 +
 +
Ruby: for example
 +
 +
Ruby: you can add 7 pairs that have 40 min duration separately
 +
 +
Ruby: you will not get a dish that lasts 280 min
 +
 +
Ruby: but maybe close to 2 hours
 +
 +
Ruby: same with stats
 +
 +
Ruby: you can add all the end stats of 7 pairs
 +
 +
Ruby: and it could be 70 together
 +
 +
Ruby: and the dish would have + 27 end approx
 +
 +
Ruby: 50 would be about 20
 +
 +
Ruby: and the lower you get, the less difference in stats
 +
 +
Ruby: follow?
 +
 +
Hanid: yes It isn't the total but higher than the individuals
 +
 +
Ruby: when I cook a dish
 +
 +
Ruby: I have all the stats for each pair written down
 +
 +
Ruby: in my book
 +
 +
Ruby: so if I make and end recipe
 +
 +
Ruby: I add all the end stats of all the 7 pairs
 +
 +
Ruby: one pair might have +9 end, another  +11 etc
 +
 +
Ruby: then I sum it up
 +
 +
Ruby: to give me an idea of the stats of the whole dish
 +
 +
Ruby: I usually just care about 1 to 3 stats
 +
 +
Hanid: so 3 10+ stat level pairs will not produce 30 but more than 10
 +
 +
Ruby: right 30 might give you 14-15
 +
 +
Ruby: the sum of the stats for all the pairs will be much higher then what you get when you cook them together
 +
 +
Hanid: I found recipes for a 4 pairing equaling 14"+ and a 3 pairing equaling 18+. I used the 3 pairing because it was cheaper
 +
 +
Ruby: 4:3?
 +
 +
Hanid: yes I think so
 +
 +
Ruby: yeah, that will give higher stats at first
 +
 +
Ruby: because in general herbs are more potent
 +
 +
Ruby: but
 +
 +
Ruby: the more they are used the faster they lose potency
 +
 +
Ruby: so it's ok for a few to cook that way
 +
 +
Ruby: but at zfree, we go through a lot so I can't do that
 +
 +
Hanid: It sucks the potency out of 2 herbs rather than 1?
 +
 +
Ruby: I'm not sure exactly how fast it will lose
 +
 +
Ruby: but I saw it very clearly at zfree when I cooked the dex food 6:1
 +
 +
Ruby: I had to change the recipes quite often because they lost potency
 +
 +
Ruby: now I have cooked the same dex recipe with 28/1 for a while and it's stable
 +
 +
Hanid: wait 28 base 1 herb?
 +
 +
Ruby: yes
 +
 +
Ruby: for bigger pots
 +
 +
Hanid: wow
 +
 +
Ruby: that's 29 servings, we eat that in 2 days lol
 +
 +
Hanid: so it just needs to be in increments, as long as there is 1 herb?
 +
 +
Ruby: but, if will loose a bit of stats at first, not the herb, but the dish
 +
 +
Ruby: yes, you can cook 13:1
 +
 +
Ruby: 20:1
 +
 +
Ruby: and of course you can double recipes, then they won't loose stats
 +
 +
Ruby: like, you can take a 6:1 recipe
 +
 +
Ruby: and you want 21 servings
 +
 +
Ruby: so you make 18:3
 +
 +
Hanid: or would you make it 20:1 would that work as well?
 +
 +
Ruby: you can make 20:1 if you want to save on the herbs, but then it would lose a bit
 +
 +
Ruby: Please remember that I am not claiming that I know everything about cooking, this is just my experience with it
 +
 +
Hanid: LOL
 +
 +
Hanid: I think you do :-)
 +
 +
Ruby: lol, ty

Cooking from Scratch with Ruby

taught to Kitten, Talos and Hanid on April 7, 2011

Ruby: I will answer your questions to the best of my knowledge, lol, but just know that I am not claiming that I know everything about cooking, this is just my experience with it.

Ruby: How much do you guys know so far?

Hanid: I know there are bases and additives

Kitten: yea and 7 dbs per serving

Hanid: I guess what I need to first understand is do herb stats match up with what will result in cooking? For instance, clovers tend to add speed if you eat them from the ground. Do they also add speed if you cook with them?

Ruby: I think it is a guideline

Ruby: so if adds speed you can assume it will in cooking too, but not always. It depends on what you mix it with.

Ruby: You will need the following 2 wikipages:

http://www.dachannien.org/atitd/cooking.php

http://3trends.com/tefnut/

Ruby: X,Y is coords on the cooking grid

Ruby: do you both have 7 gastro points?

Kitten: i do

Hanid: yes, why?

Ruby: So you can “critically evaluate this dish” in the kitchen. Now open kitchen menu and pin it

Ruby: clean out the cook pot - do this before making new dish if it has been used

Ruby: Show the recipe - when you have made a dish you can view your recipe here

Ruby: even before it's done, just to see what you have put in

Kitten: that i didn’t know

Ruby: also, show the recipe will show the recipe to anyone as long as there are servings in the kitchen or when it's empty and it has not been cleaned out

Hanid: Can you somehow add to the recipe to this before adding ingredients?

Ruby: no, during the making of a recipe it shows what is in the pot

Hanid: Oh that is helpful

Ruby: also, it shows the recipe to anyone as long as there are servings in the kitchen or while it's empty and it has not been cleaned out Ruby: ok, now

Ruby: mix to add ingredients

Ruby: you will get up a list of what is in your inventory

Ruby: so when you read a recipe from wiki

Ruby: all you do is click mix

Ruby: and add

Ruby: then cook

Kitten nods

Hanid: so far so good

Ruby: a recipe must be at least 7 db

Ruby: 7 db = 1 serving

Ruby: so 14 db = 2 servings

Ruby: 21 db = 3 servings, etc

Hanid: Can all 7 db be the same mat?

Ruby: no

Ruby: 1 servings is made up of a base and an additive = a pair

Ruby: how many bases you can add is based on your cooking lvl

Ruby: Kitten, you have lvl 4

Ruby: so you can make a recipe that has 4 bases + additives

Kitten: yep

Hanid: Could it be 7 different things? Or can it be any combination of 7 as long as it is at least 1 base?

Ruby: the base should be higher quantity then additive

Ruby: no

Ruby: base should be higher quantity then additive

Ruby: a serving can be made of 6 base : 1 additive

Ruby: 5 base : 2 additive

Ruby: or 4 base : 3 additive

Ruby: the base in a pair is always the same mats

Ruby: for example

Ruby: you can have 6 abdju meat and 1 sugar cane

Ruby: the 6 abdju meat is the base

Ruby: and the 1 sugar cane is the additive

Ruby: or 5 abdju meat and 2 sugar cane, or 4 abdju meat and 3 sugar cane - but it adds up to 7 db = 1 serving

Ruby: ok, so for simplicity, just use 6 base and 1 additive, it also saves on herbs and better in my opinion

Ruby: any questions so far?

Ruby: so do you both understand how to use a recipe from wiki?

Hanid: Pick the recipe that has the right stats and within the cooking level

Ruby: and just mix, add and cook

Kitten: yep

Ruby: next the cooking grid

Kitten: ok

Ruby: we need to use the cooking grid to find the bases and additives that work together

Ruby: if they are too far apart on the grid you will just get 0 on all stats and no duration

Ruby: and no dish, lol

Ruby: on the grid we have the foods that have been tested so far, thanks to arame and tefnut

Ruby: herbs in pink

Ruby: foods like veggies, fish and grains in blue

Ruby: and shrooms in orange

Ruby: ok, so you can use foods, herbs and shrooms as base

Ruby: some foods as additive, and all herbs and shrooms as additive

Ruby: I prefer to use herbs only as additive to save on their stats as they drop with overuse

Hanid: Interesting

Ruby: so just to make it simple for now, use fish, grains, shrooms or veggies as base and herbs as additive

Kitten: k

Hanid: k

talos: Question

Ruby: yes ?

talos: Is the coords relative to a random starting spot? Or it is absolute in a specific vector space?

Ruby: I am not sure how that works exactly, you might want to chat tefnut about that

talos: lol i have many more. I must make my cooking tool someday

talos: http://atitd.heroku.com/

Ruby: on the left side of the grid you have all the foods and herbs tested listed with coords

Ruby: Lets look for a herb on the grid

http://3trends.com/tefnut/

Ruby: Find sagar ghota for example

Hanid: OK

Ruby: find it in the list on the left side

Ruby: and write down the coords

Ruby: see it?

Kitten: got it

Ruby: what's the coords?

Kitten: -157.15, -77.78

Ruby: yes Ruby: the first coords, -157.15 is the X

Ruby: now , to move around in the grid, click on the double arrow on the top and pull the grid around with the cursor

Ruby: find -157,15 on the x or horizontal line, then -77, 78 is the y

Kitten: i see it now

Ruby: see it hanid?

Ruby: talos?

Hanid: Oh got it

Ruby: good

talos: I use my tool i just need the math formulas ;)

Kitten: :P~

Ruby: hehe, ok

Ruby: ok, so now we have an additive but we need a base

Ruby: so for base we use fish, grains, shrooms and veggies

talos: My question is : Give a pair that have an Eucledian norm X and a set of attributes

talos: How can i get the stats

Ruby: lol, sorry talos, I can't answer that

talos: ~is real cooking so a quick list of questions just in case

talos: i. How multiple additive works

talos: ii. How you calculate the coords of an unknown ingredient

Kitten: talos needs the adv class

talos: iii. How you calcultae the potency

Ruby: not sure talos, you might want to have a chat with tefnut about that

talos: ok ;)

Ruby: arame is the one that did the original grid, but he does not play anymore, but tefnut has done the latest addings so I am sure she can answer you

talos: but have months to updated

talos: My tool btw is easier for newbies to get the basics

Ruby:Write down the coords and use it to find the herb or food you are looking for in the grid

Ruby: when you have found the herb, try to find the base to match it with

Ruby: one that is not too far away

Ruby: any suggestions for sagar ghota?

Kitten: so in this case medusa fish would be closest?

Ruby: yes

Hanid: medusa fish?

Ruby: but you can test all those around

Hanid: test as in cook with them?

Ruby: dark wheat too

Ruby: I would go as far as grilled eggplant

Ruby: well, this the problem hanid, this one herb, sagar ghota, will give different stats with different bases

Hanid: so if you had skill would you use elegia as a second additive?

Ruby: no

Ruby: you would find another pair not too close

Ruby: an additive will match up with the closest base in the recipe

Hanid: I think I jumped ahead, sorry

Ruby: yeah, I know some use more the one additive for the same base, but lets leave that out for simplicity

Hanid: On what would basis would you choose one base over another? Is it strictly proximity??

Ruby: no, not only

Ruby: you would prefer to have it as close as possible, but that's not always the one giving the best stats

Ruby: proximity is important for duration

Hanid: Oh

Hanid: Just wondering if there was a reason to start with sagar ghota?

Ruby: lol, no

Ruby: I just picked one

Hanid: Is there any way one can tell from the grid what stats might happen?

Ruby: no

Ruby: but I will get to that

Hanid: ok Ruby: did you get sagar ghota + 6 oyster meat?

Kitten: does it mater which order you add ingredients?

Ruby: no

Ruby: I just wanted you to understand that different stats will occur with same herb but different bases

Hanid: OK

Ruby: ok, next MP's

Kitten: k

Ruby: to get MP's you need high duration

Ruby: you get high duration by mixing base + additive that is close

Kitten: k

Ruby: for example, as a general rule, sagar ghota + medusafish would get higher duration then sagar ghota + oyster

Ruby: some foods and herbs are stronger then others, so that is just a general rule

Ruby: so at lvl 4, I would pick 4 pairs

Ruby: each pair should have close base + additive

Ruby: you won't always get MP even with high duration, so if you don't, just try again

Ruby: some pairs are better then others for MP's

Ruby: so at lvl 4, with 4 pairs and you have an MP, keep 3 pairs and add a new one

Ruby: keep taking out one pair and adding another

Kitten: k

Ruby: also 4:3 works well for mp's

Ruby: or even 2:1, just keep in mind that 1 serving = 7 db's

Hanid: How do you do 2:1 and get 7db? 14:7?

Ruby: no, you do 3 pairs, each with 2 base and 1 additive

Ruby: (2+1)3 = 9

Hanid: that is 9db yes so . . .

Ruby: and 1 serving is 7 db so you just loose a bit of mats

Hanid: anything over 7db? not exactly 7db?

Ruby: yeah, 7-13 will give you 1

Ruby: and 14-20 will give you 2 servings

Hanid: I am learning a lot :-)

Ruby: 21 is 3 servings, nothing in between

Ruby: so when you make a dish, it's good to keep in mind that it should be divisable by 7

Ruby: you can also use more base and less additive if you cook for many and want many servings

Hanid: So for those of us who are interested in stat improvement, how do we figure that out?

Ruby: yes, that's a bit more complicated

Ruby: first

Ruby: I use this one http://www.dachannien.org/atitd/cooking.php

Ruby: talos has one too, http://atitd.heroku.com/ I am just used to dachs

Ruby: this will give an idea of what herbs is + or - the different stats

Ruby: no numbers

Ruby: you go to the search area and you can click the filter

Ruby: try with just one

Ruby: like end

Hanid: OK

Ruby: this is just a guideline to use so that you have an idea of what stats it will give

Ruby: you can find a herb and mix with a base from the cooking grid

Ruby: you can find 4 pairs that way and cook a recipe that most likely will give good stats for end

Ruby: but - if one wants to know for sure what stats a pair give

Ruby: you have to test them

Ruby: each one

Ruby: I do that

Ruby: since I know that one herb will give different stats with different bases

Hanid: do you always start with an herb?

Ruby: I used to, but now if I sometimes start with base and work my way around with all the herbs around it

Ruby: like cocoa , didn't have that when I first started charting the stats

Hanid: OK

Hanid: would you ever start with something like that and find a close herb?

Ruby: yes, and with fish

Ruby: doesn't matter really, the point is just to test the pairs

Ruby: and I always test 6:1

Ruby: when you find pairs on the grid, make sure they are not too close to each other or they will interact

Hanid: I heard that recipes become less potent with use

Hanid: Is that true?

Ruby: yes, that's true

Ruby: but -

Ruby: also, in my experience, the more herbs you use, the more it drops

Ruby: so if you use higher base, less herbs, slower drop in stats

Hanid: So to review a bit

Hanid: First search for the stat herb/food

Ruby: yes

Hanid: then go to the grid and find pair

Ruby: yes

Hanid: in increments of at least 7 with base more than additive

Ruby: find the herbs you want to use, find a base fairly close on the grid

Ruby: right

Hanid: You make it sound so easy roflmao

Ruby: lol

Ruby: the hard part is testing the pairs

Ruby: then matching afterwards

Ruby: but, one can also just pick from the stats page and just pick a base and cook with that

Ruby: I mean, find the pairs and cook, without testing each pair first

Hanid: How predictable are the outcomes from the stats page?

Ruby: well, you should for sure get + stats

Ruby: but it depends on how lucky you are really

Ruby: with the ones you pick

Hanid: and how overused some herbs are?

Ruby: yes

Ruby: then they will have lost stats and duration too maybe

Hanid: So for example common herbs may be less useful?

Ruby: right, in general, the rarer the herbs the better duration

Ruby: but they also had less potency from start as far as I know

Kitten: so do all vmy 4 pairnings need to be close?

Ruby: the base + additive should be close, each pair should not be close

Ruby: when you guys cook

Ruby: you can critically view, will show stats + duration

Ruby: if you have 2 pairs too close, they might pair up differently then you wanted them too

Ruby: oh and one more thing

Ruby: if you do start testing pairs, write them down, all the stats and duration

Ruby: then when you want a dish with say + dex

Ruby: you pick the ones from the book with your tested pairs

Ruby: and what I do is that I add the stats of the pairs

Ruby: it gives an idea of how much the final stats will be

Hanid: do you ever add similar stat pairs?

Hanid: Say 2 end pairs

Ruby: sure

Ruby: I add 7 end pairs if I want an end recipe

Hanid: and will that bump up end or does it increase duration or none of the above?

Ruby: it will bump up end and duration

Ruby: but not like you can add all the numbers and that is what you will get

Ruby: for example

Ruby: you can add 7 pairs that have 40 min duration separately

Ruby: you will not get a dish that lasts 280 min

Ruby: but maybe close to 2 hours

Ruby: same with stats

Ruby: you can add all the end stats of 7 pairs

Ruby: and it could be 70 together

Ruby: and the dish would have + 27 end approx

Ruby: 50 would be about 20

Ruby: and the lower you get, the less difference in stats

Ruby: follow?

Hanid: yes It isn't the total but higher than the individuals

Ruby: when I cook a dish

Ruby: I have all the stats for each pair written down

Ruby: in my book

Ruby: so if I make and end recipe

Ruby: I add all the end stats of all the 7 pairs

Ruby: one pair might have +9 end, another +11 etc

Ruby: then I sum it up

Ruby: to give me an idea of the stats of the whole dish

Ruby: I usually just care about 1 to 3 stats

Hanid: so 3 10+ stat level pairs will not produce 30 but more than 10

Ruby: right 30 might give you 14-15

Ruby: the sum of the stats for all the pairs will be much higher then what you get when you cook them together

Hanid: I found recipes for a 4 pairing equaling 14"+ and a 3 pairing equaling 18+. I used the 3 pairing because it was cheaper

Ruby: 4:3?

Hanid: yes I think so

Ruby: yeah, that will give higher stats at first

Ruby: because in general herbs are more potent

Ruby: but

Ruby: the more they are used the faster they lose potency

Ruby: so it's ok for a few to cook that way

Ruby: but at zfree, we go through a lot so I can't do that

Hanid: It sucks the potency out of 2 herbs rather than 1?

Ruby: I'm not sure exactly how fast it will lose

Ruby: but I saw it very clearly at zfree when I cooked the dex food 6:1

Ruby: I had to change the recipes quite often because they lost potency

Ruby: now I have cooked the same dex recipe with 28/1 for a while and it's stable

Hanid: wait 28 base 1 herb?

Ruby: yes

Ruby: for bigger pots

Hanid: wow

Ruby: that's 29 servings, we eat that in 2 days lol

Hanid: so it just needs to be in increments, as long as there is 1 herb?

Ruby: but, if will loose a bit of stats at first, not the herb, but the dish

Ruby: yes, you can cook 13:1

Ruby: 20:1

Ruby: and of course you can double recipes, then they won't loose stats

Ruby: like, you can take a 6:1 recipe

Ruby: and you want 21 servings

Ruby: so you make 18:3

Hanid: or would you make it 20:1 would that work as well?

Ruby: you can make 20:1 if you want to save on the herbs, but then it would lose a bit

Ruby: Please remember that I am not claiming that I know everything about cooking, this is just my experience with it

Hanid: LOL

Hanid: I think you do :-)

Ruby: lol, ty
