Clinker is a waste byproduct of smelting ore in a Furnace. You will receive it, along with the finished metal, at the end of the smelting process. Largely worthless, it is used in conjunction with bauxite and gypsum in a Clinker Vat to produce cement. You will probably generate far more clinker in the process of smelting metals than you will ever need for cement production.
Only if you possess the Masonry tech will a furnace produce clinker for you. (Presumably, characters without the tech don't recognize its potential use and automatically discard it.)
Does dropping clinker on the ground cause Pollution in the area or not? There is some disagreement. If you test this, please post your results on the Pollution page. Remember not to test it next to a furnace or other item that may cause Pollution when used. - Tazendra
