This is carryover from T3. I hope to aggregate past materials to simplify migration to the next Tale.

Simple Egyptian Archaeological Relic Clearing House (S.E.A.R.C.H) at 1463, 1957 (by TheGoods and DEA in 7L)

Premise We Egyptians have little time to complete the Test of the Archaeologist before Tale 3 comes to a close. Relic trading is cumbersome and the market is weak, yet many of us struggle alone to find our treasures. This Clearing House has been created in the naive hope that a communal approach will further our aims better than a capitalistic Approach.

SHORT VERSION

SEARCH sets the rate of exchange for members as 2 relics for 1 chosen relic. Egyptians must have relics in SEARCH stock to be considered members. Simply make the request (without chatter) in the SEARCH channel and requests will be processed in the order received.

  1. Build a chest at SEARCH GH
        1. Label the chest with your name (under UTILITIES)
        2. Make the chest stashable (under OWNERSHIP -> PERMISSION FOR STASHING)
  2. Supply 2 relics to the stashable GUILD chest
  3. APPLY to SEARCH Guild
        1. 5 silk cloth will be put in your stashable chest as collateral against the relics
        2. NEW - A Chit:Aperio will be credited for every 2 relics contributed as credit for a relic of your choice.
  4. Watch incoming inventory for a relic you want
        1. Inventory may be viewed at the GH Display Chest (there are now two)
        2. OR on the wiki (RECOMMENDED). You can match the chest inventory with your requirements with Cheos's tool... .. see the links below.
  5. Request in SEARCH
        1. A Chit:Aperio will be required with the 5 silk cloth collateral to reflect that you no longer have that relic credit.
        2. If you're not interested in any more relics, keep the cloth and gratz on your Test pass!
  6. REPEAT!

SEARCH Assumptions and Theory

  1. Supply of relics is precious as a rarely spawned resource and one that occassionally does not even generate a relic, much less a relic matching requirements.
  2. Any non-matching relic is of equal value to any other non-matching relic and holds no intrinsic value apart from the secondary market for acquiring relics. Translation: The only value a relic holds is for this test and any attempts to equate their value to other resources is purely artificial.
  3. There is an assumed value for a relic that matches requirements for which the value is indeterminate. While the relic holds more value for the matching party, the value to the supplier has not changed except for a perceived value that has not been realized.
  4. Egyptians holding independent inventory face a number of challenges ranging from finding matches, to managing language, to negotiating equitable trades, to coordinating to complete such trades.
  5. Having a larger inventory from which to choose both increases an Egyptian's ability to match requirements and their ability to bargain for matching relics.
  6. Upon completion of the Test of the Archaeologist, these relics cease to have meaningful value to the collector apart from whatever value can be derived from the secondary market from one's peers still struggling with the Test.
  7. SEARCH aims to collect a large inventory of relics to address these challenges.

SEARCH Model

  1. SEARCH maintains a viewable chest of relic inventory. People may review the current inventory on location.
  2. SEARCH will attempt to update the wiki once per day
  3. Egyptians may apply to search, by creating a chest by SEARCH GH, submitting an even number of relics, and turing the chest over to SEARCH.
  4. Once per day, SEARCH will attempt to accept new members, process relic submissions, and process relic requests.
  5. SEARCH backs its dealings with 5 silk cloth (as supplies permit) per 2 relics as collateral/consideration to the secondary market and will turn the chest back over to the member At any time, you may take the silk cloth as payment in full for your relics.
  6. SEARCH sets the rate of exchange for members as 2 relics for 1 chosen relic. Egyptians must have relics in SEARCH stock to be considered members. Simply make the request (without chatter) in the SEARCH channel and requests will be processed in the order received.
  7. SEARCH sets the rate of exchange for non-members as 5 relics for 1 chosen relic
  8. SEARCH is under no obligation to accept new members but would only reject members for violating SEARCH Code of Conduct
  9. SEARCH reserves the right to bar new members from previously received inventory to give ample access to existing members.

SEARCH Code of Conduct

  1. SEARCH Chat channel is for transactions only. Personal chats to SEARCH staff is preferred for all other communication.
  2. Abusing SEARCH staff or privileges will result in being barred from SEARCH.

SEARCH FAQ Q: Why 5 silk cloth? That's too much, too little, too silly... A: It's arbitrary, useful, and more liquid than holding relics. No in-game resource will have ANY value shortly, so why quibble? In the meantime, it is hoped that SEARCH will accomplish some good on behalf of the visionaries who invest in making it work.

Q: 5 relics is INSANE! Are you? A: SEARCH wants to encourage Egyptians to provide inventory IN ADVANCE for the benefit of others. Failing to do so simply allows non-members predatory access without providing the same benefit of selection to members. Just join and help us finish this Test! A: Actually, yes. But don't tell anyone...
